Probably not. I love the series, but for the EXPLORATION not GUNPLAY. I have Team Fortress 2 and Overwatch for my multiplayer shooter needs.

Fallout 4 was a good game graphic wise, but it had a very unsatisfying ending. And it was annoying that cleared areas didn't stay cleared.
We should have been able to conquer every part of the wasteland, and then found a new government. I personally like the title "King Nate the first".
That would be so much better then the NCR, an absolute monarchy supported by the zeal and vigilance of the Brotherhood of steel.

Basically, it was a good game mechanically, but not a good RPG.

rphb In reply to Redlight47 [2018-04-16 11:41:11 +0000 UTC]

Yes story wise it was very unsatisfying.
And there were several obvious holes that had been easy to fill out.
For instance: expanded minute men quests.
1) Retaking Quincy
Description: "Now that the Castle have been restored and the Minutemen are once more a force to be reckoned with, it is time to take back what we lost in our darkest hour, the City of Quincy"
Mission: clear Quincy Ruins of all Gunner presense and kill their three leaders Clint, Baker and Tessa.
Required companion: Preston Garvey
Reward: Gains Quincy as a settlement, opens adition quests to reinforce the town.

2) Gunners be Gone
Description: "Now that Quincy have been restored and properly secured it is time to end the threat of the Gunners once and for all."
Mission: Clear Gunners Plaza
Reward: Gains the Plaza as a settlement / fortress, and gains a tv channel

After that there will be a mission to get rid of each of the raider gains that plagues the Commonwealth

3) Clearing the roads
Multiple missions, where the mission is to clear the roads of old cars and repair them where they are broken as well as constructing watchtowers to make travel easier and safer. Each watchtower requires one or more settlers.

The idea is that we would see the wasteland being gradually transformed into one coherent community, and it should of course be up to the Sole Surviver to decide what kind of government we would set up, from an absolute monarchy to a full democracy, as well as whom would constitute a citizen and whom wouldn't.
We have humans, intelligent ghouls, robots, super mutants and synth.
How many of them should have rights and how many of them should just be hunted down and killed like dogs.

The game really needs a final DLC to do that.

Sounds like you want something between Fallout 4 and The Fallout Mod for Hearts of Iron.

rphb In reply to railbaron1 [2018-05-02 08:18:14 +0000 UTC]

don't know that one, but isn't Hearts of Iron a paradox game about world war two?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

railbaron1 In reply to rphb [2018-05-04 16:01:15 +0000 UTC]

Yes, However the are several mods that alter the setting going all the way back to Darkest Hour. Like Kaiserreich, which is an alternate history where Germany Won the Great War. There is one for Fallout, the one for HOI4 currently only has the US west coast and start some years before the events of New Vegas, but whats there is well fleshed out.

I love world war one alternative history. I made a map myself about what a German victory might look like: No Wilson
But honestly what I like most about a central victory scenario is that it would PREVENT world war two. There would be no point in having a new war if Germany won.
It would have cemented its place as one of the great powers.
The 20th century would not have been the German century rather then the American century. But its power would be far less Absolute.
1) America would remain isolationistic, with a small government (great for everyone especially Americans)
2) The UK and France would continue to operate a colonial empire into the 21st century (great for Africa and India)
3) The Balkan would be under unified Austrian control (yea peace)
4) And possible they best of all, no soviet union as a central victory would also mean a white army victory in the Russian civil war.

How great would it be if you had a mode where you could play as like a dog or a random robot with different restrictions and perks... like a Dogmeat mini game where you go around eating stuff to survive and avoiding the big nasty things, sniffing and tracking things and leaving little piss flags everywhere or leading a fresh-out-of-the-vault human around trying to keep him alive.... or you're a robot going from fusion cell to fusion cell keeping yourself running, upgrading yourself and shuffling about...

jollyjack In reply to Overshia [2018-02-09 21:18:01 +0000 UTC]

I really thought the character you played in Fallout 4 was going to BE a Synth. I just thought such a twist was a no-brainer that would have opened up a whole range of different possibilities.

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Overshia In reply to jollyjack [2018-02-09 22:31:25 +0000 UTC]

Oooh... that's a neat idea too. Though the later generation synths dont seem to be that different from normal people aside from that one snyth chip, from what I can tell. You dont see any of the newer ones running around with sweet upgraded gatling laser arms or built jet pack butts or something interesting. Only thing that seems to make them synths at that point is them having some phrase or numbers that can reset or turn them off.... then again in New Vegas not being a robot didnt stop that think tank expansion from moding the heck out of your character. So maybe it doesnt make a difference.

I like the idea of a robot unable to turn off it's radio/speaker.  So it's been wandering around with 60s era music blasting out of it's head to the point where it's personality has been molded by the music.
& it's only moments of peace are the few seconds before the playlist starts over.

Are we going to see more Fair Blighty world development? Was a cute concept with reborn feudal kingdoms and the like. The monstrous remnants of the offshore bombings making their way across the glowing Post-Fall channel are a neat way to get your FEV on.

Time for the saxophone solo!  I saw those commercials for this game, and I wanted a version of it using another hit song from Dion, "Runaround Sue."  Nice work, Jack, and next on the playlist, "Big Girls Don't Cry," by The Shirelles.
