Background:
Centuries ago, when Men first begun to rise against the creatures of Grimm, one group of what would later be recognized as “Huntsmen” stood over others. They called themselves the “Soluna Tribe”, in celebration of their divinities, the Father Sun and the Mother Moon. The warrior Tribe survived for generations without the help of the then rising kingdoms, defending themselves against the hordes that threatened their people. But after an even that would be written off the Tribe’s records, the powerful Tribe split into two, Sol and Luna.
The Luna went east, settling on Vale territory, while the Sol left for Vacuo’s sandy wastelands. Change was never easy, specially one of that magnitude, but the new Sol Tribe adapted to the new environment, establishing themselves in the dunes. There they trived and prospered, building themselves a new village and community.
Nowadays the Tribe still stands as one of the many tribes outside Kingdom walls, but unlike the reclusive Luna who hide in their forest avoiding contact with the outside world, the Sol constantly trade with Vacuo and receives visitors in their territory.
Lucca’s life begun in the Luna Forest as “Lucca de la Luna”. He was born of a Luna woman and a Sol man, an insult to his tribe’s rules. His mother was sentence to lifetime duty as guardian of a dangerous part of the Luna territory, known only as Evernight Woods. His father, from a family of status among his own, lost his position and place in the Sol’s higher circle. Lucca and his twin brother Viola were raised by the tribe’s elders, but treated by their fellow clansmen as outcasts.
The brothers were seen as black sheep and severely mistreated as they grew. Feeling as they did not belong there, and constantly reminded of it, they planned their escape. Once they were strong enough fighters, at age 14, they escaped the forest and made it into the Kingdom by following travelers.
Stealing into the elders’ private chambers, the twins took every piece of information they could about their family before they left. Now they had their father’s name and location, but there was little to nothing on their mother. Instead, documents revealed she had left the tribe in her youth like they planned to, and that s he had connections with a man supposedly living in Vale.
As they got into the Kingdom’s walls, the boys’ goals diverged. Lucca wanted to look for their father while his twin wanted to look for the man in the city. Finding a ship traveling to the Kingdom of Vacuo, Lucca acted on impulse and boarded it, leaving his brother behind.
Finally making it to the other Kingdom, Lucca soon met with the tribesman in one of their visits to the Kingdom’s market. Asking for a Lion Faunusman named “Leijon pôr do Sol”, he was taken to the tribe’s village. Apparently his father was well known in the tribe for his combat prowess and valor, despite his social downfall over a decade ago. As Lucca came to learn, his father had earned back some respect after a conflict with the Luna stripped him of his honor. Lucca was taken in by the man and introduced to the tribe despite his mixed heritage. He still faces some prejudice by the most conservative members of the tribe, but the Sol don’t seem to hold as much despise for their former tribesmen as the Luna do.
After his arrival, Lucca enjoyed happy years with his father and tribe, impressing the other Sol warriors with his own hunting skills(like father like son, some usually said), effectively conquering his place amongst them.
The Sol’s might was recognized by the Kingdom of Vacuo, which usually resorted to them for slaying Grimm in their territory in exchange of coin and resources, both valuable in their harsh environment. In order to accept the Kingdom’s missions however, one needed the proper license, one Lucca’s father had acquired in his young age, and one Lucca set his eyes on as well. Lucca enrolled Vacuo’s Hunting Academy, easily earning his spot there as well.
Now Lucca and his team find themselves in the Kingdom of Vale, coming along other students for the festival and tournament. They do plan to participate in the competition, but Lucca’s main goal is finding what happened to his twin brother in all these years.
Personality:
Contrary to the fact they are identical twins, Lucca and Viola have very different personalities. Lucca is loud, easy-going and charismatic. He can easily interact with people and make connections. He is very popular among both his tribesman and fellow students, making a name for himself in and out of the battlefield.
All those positive traits are heavily contrasted by his ego. Lucca sees himself as the center of the world, which people should be paying attention to because, well…just look at him! He enjoys being the center of attention, channeling it through humor, looks and skils. Which he has all…at least in his opinion. He is boastful, narcissistic and almost obnoxious, but he somehow gets people to like him.
Despite his “Me!Me!Me!” personality, Lucca still has space in his heart for other people. He loves his father very much and looks up to him as a role model, and he is very close to his best friend and partner, Olivier Verdoayant. Olivier is very innocent and naïve, causing Lucca to be protective and look out for him….even though the other is almost twice his size.
Semblance: “Song”
Lucca and his brother have the same Semblance, called Song. Lucca and Viola can vibrate their souls, releasing waves of Aura that disturb the air in form of sound. The aura waves propagate in all directions, affecting all those standing close enough and have different effects depending of the frequency and rhythm the twins give to them. They call that ability Song because, despite being able to channel their semblance through musical instruments, they can also sing to manifest it in a more practical way.
Song, like other semblances, can too be altered with Dust. Conventionally, Viola and Lucca can enhance theirs and their team’s Aura Field, Regeneration and so on, with their Song, but interacting with Dust, they can endow their weapons with elemental effects or shields.
The drawback of this semblance is the need for focus and coordination while handling it. The Song needs to be performed in a certain way to produce the desired effect, most of the time leaving the performer vulnerable to attacks and hindering their movement.
Fighting Style:
Joining the Sol, Lucca quickly picked up their hunting style. While the Luna hunt wielding Spears and Bows, the Sol, wield Spears and Javelins. Lucca’s weapon of choice is a group of Dust Drumsticks named Callisto. Each of the several drumsticks he carries is charged with a type of dust, allowing him to hit surfaces or glyphs like drums to manifest his semblance. Each stick can also expand into a Javelin, which can be thrown for ranged combat. Being very nimble, Lucca fights by jumping around and launching his Javelins as he dances around his enemies.
Since the Javelins are loaded with Dust, Lucca is able to add elemental effects to his throws, such as an Explosive Javelin with Red Dust, or a Crystal Javelin using Earth.
One of the Sol traditions involves tattooing their members using a mixture of ink and dust. Lucca possesses two tattoos, one in each shoulder and forearm, containing Red and Yellow Dust(Fire and Earth respectively), the tribe’s colors.
