Description
Yahabah in the Denoraan System was just another backwater planet that practically nobody knew existed. It's economy was originally based on agricultural produce which it sold to neighboring systems, often via third-party sources who knew a good thing when they saw it, as the Yahabah's had rich harvests and an orbital eccentricity that provided the planet with near-perfect growing weather all year round, so offworld traders could visit and purchase what they liked, be it grains or plants at a respectable price and then sell it on in those nearby systems for a considerable markup that left them profiting handsomely from the deal. That is until the
Dau Imperium
, an extremely warlike species located sixty light years distant in their own system set their sights on capturing and occupying Yahabah and adding it to their 'empire'.
The Dau arrived and immediate laid siege to the planet, cutting off its trade with the galaxy and destroying any craft attempting to leave or enter the system; then their occupation began. Although the Yahabah were predominately agrarian in nature, they did have some heavy industry and this included the manufacture of farming machinery, ground, air and space vehicles. Fortunately for the Yahabah the Dau Imperium's attack was focused on their northern hemisphere, but the industrial sectors were in the south, so they had sufficient time raise a military force to counter-attack, and to hire in assistance from neighboring systems to see off the Dau.
They also manufactured combat vessels which would take the fight to the Dau, and did so during the war. At the completion of the conflict with the Dau kicked off of the planet, Morlen went back to manufacturing commercial vehicles, but they also used what they had learned during the war to assemble fighter craft that would operate in the planets atmosphere, and in space and which would act as defensive fighters in future conflicts with potential invaders. This was the WE-73 which followed the familiar Morlen layout - a command module with wings, well armed and blisteringly fast.
NOTE: Designed in 1994 and it has nothing to do with Jedi Fighters in Star Wars, in fact when the Jedi fighters first made their appearance, I could not believe the coincidence. I believe that the 'way back machine' website has saved images from 1994-95 showing my original posting of this design.
