Description

Not heard of him. Outfit's too fussy and a bugger to draw. 20mins or so, all MangaStudio...

Hey man, there were just a few things that jumped out to me here.

The composition looks off. spidey looks squeezed here, it's a little too narrow. There's a lot of unused negative space at the top. This would work better if there were something to compliment the character in the background and if spidey wasn't in the center of the frame.

The black on black makes the character look flat. The red draws our attention, but the form isn't really defined enough to read well. A rim light, or opposite side lighting would really push him out.

The pose is pretty static.. He looks like a mannequin. This might work if the subject matter was different, but given that it's a superhero like spiderman, he demands some movement and fluidity

You've got some good stuff man. I hope any of that is helpful!

Johnny

Thanks for taking the time to Critique - a rare thing at the moment.

You're right on the points you make, but as a 20min sketch there's only so much detail I can fit in - I'm just not good or quick enough to do more!

So far as the width goes, that's just simple practicalities I'm afraid, no design thought at all - the DSC forum has a 1000px width rule, so he was quickly cropped to fit that.

Thanks again for taking the time to post a critique, it's certainly appreciated.

I feel you there.. I'm battling myself to become more efficient..

No problem at all! Practicalities be damned! haha
