That was a really sad ending to that. The way the Quilava became infected and was no longer the Quilava that Cindy grew up with. Made me cry when they got separted, both physically and mentally! T_T 
The way that you wrote the ending reminded me of what happened in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, where the T-X corrupted the T-850 and then the T-850 goes after John and John tries to talk him out of it, but to no avail.
"You can't do this! You don't want to do this!"
"Desire...is...irrelevant! I am...A MACHINE!"
Exactly how I read that part!
