Description Β©2010 Jon Hodgson

Dwarf adventurer seeking permission to travel in the lands of King DΓ‘in for The One Ring rpg from Sophisticated Games and Cubicle 7.

"To most denizens of the Lonely Mountain, taking part in the making of future splendours is enough to fill their life with purpose. To some, the memory of even greater halls still lost to the enemy fills their heart with longing and bitterness, driving out any interest in the concerns of other folks. These restless spirits become emissaries and adventurers, and their wandering carries the name of Erebor to many foreign realms."

I recall one adventure set in a hexagon-grid. Time:after the fall of Sauron. Mission: to rescue an elf prince held for torture by orcs.
You and the elf princess quest to find & free him.

I recall where you & yours meet some dwarves. Your efforts to speak to & parlay with the dwarves are scragged when the princess gives vent to her prejudice against the dwarves. In moments, it's an all-out fight and you lose. Battered. I do not know if ANYTHING is gained by this brouhaha.Β

Well done! With King Dain having a red axe and everything! I was, however, under the impression that Orcrist was visible on the Tomb as it would alert the Dwarves if ever the mountain was under attack (from orcs at least). Could be wrong though.

Supposed to be. King Thranduil laid ontop of Thorin's Tomb to protect the lands for all time and alert to danger. The final movie had it laying with Thorin as they were lain on plinths.

Fantastic work! This definitely tells a story and creates a sense of adventure and ancient places and legends and memory. I love the Dwarves' designs but also the architecture around and behind him.

They definitely got the right artist for the job. Your style is gritty but slightly homely, (not quite the word I want, but anyway...) and it really lends itself to the subject matter. You are good at making it look like everything has been there for a long time. The characters really seem to belong in thier world, too.

Is that Thorin's tomb under the Mountain, and the Arkenstone?

For some reason I love the fact that the elder dwarf is pigeon-toed.

That must be his iron foot.

Dain is lecturing, and must have brought the dwarf to the tomb of Thorin Oakenshield on purpose. "Young beardling, your deeds will speak to the honour of the Kingdom Under the Mountain -- the Kingdom for which my cousin, King Thorin, gave to his very life".
(Are those stairs in the background a deliberate reference to Alan Lee's funeral of Thorin in 'Buried Under the Mountain'? That's doubly cool!)

I see the dwarf as rather lowly for an adventurer -- though rightly not bristling with a personal arsenal of weaponry! And I think he's looking a bit wary or nervous at Dain's words... (Maybe he's a she, and shouldn't be going out of the dwarf-hold alone at all!)

The Arkenstone is... rendered over-large here for reasons of artistic licence.

Love it, it really captures the feeling of Lord Of The Rings very well! The grave with the dwarf holding that glowing rock is just great
