Description "Kids" my age that read comic books usually know The Original Human Torch. After all, he was a regular in The Invaders series and would make occasional appearances in the pages of the Fantastic Four. I actually think I first discovered him in the latter. Marvel would occasionally re-print a story when the creative team fell behind schedule. This seemed to happen a bit in the 70's. One such issue of the FF was a reprint from the 60's (drawn by Jack "The King" Kirby!) of Fantastic Four Annual #4 where the Human Torch met and fought the Original Torch. I loved it as Johnny Storm was my favorite member of the FF! But I was fascinated by this original Torch character. With no internet to look him up, it took a bit longer to find out that he was in fact, the first Marvel super-hero appearing in Marvel Comics #1!!  A bit of backstory for you is that the Torch is not human. At times he has been called an android (and I even did it for my picture) but that is an oversimplification. He is actually a synthetic man. Meaning he has organs and blood but all manmade versions. This has been forgotten at times in the comics too and it shows him with circuitry and wires. I like to compromise and say he is a mix of the two. And did you catch a glimpse of Torch in Captain America: The First Avenger?? You see him at the Stark Expo in the beginning of the film. So, for my picture, I am continuing the theme of cartoon ads that never were. When I started this one, I was thinking that it would never have been on since I believed Standards and Practices would never allow the central character to be a flaming figure as children would try to emulate him and that was the reason, I believed, as why Johnny Storm was not in the 1980's animated version as he was replaced by Herbie the robot. In truth, he was replaced because of rights issues and the Human Torch did in fact appear in the 1960's version as well as the 1990's version of the show.
