I know they do the same thing, but wouldn't Shell armor be a more appropriate Ability ?

Probably - I did this a while ago so I hadn't taken new abilities in to account...

I like very much, although I'm pretty sure the Galapagos Tortoise is one of those tortoises that never really face this problem.

It's in the Master of Disguise. The main character (I think his name is Dana Carvey) dresses up as a billion things, proving that he is the "Master of Disguise." So, he dresses a turtle, shell and all, and goes to a night club called "THE TURTLE CLUB." He walks up to the bouncer and says: "Am I trutley enough to be in the Turtle Club?" So, chyeah.

another reason it's dangerous for them to get turned upside down (for normal turtles anyway) is that their lungs are located neat the top of their shell, and when over turned all the weight of it's body is laid upon the lungs and they suffocate
that neat though... but since they seem to be used fairly infrequently (and if not they're used for a short time) i would think they might be better if the legs were a big smaller, or even retractible and maybe instead of having extra legs, he could pull his really legs into his shell, and then they could come out of holes in he top of the shell so he could walk!

al he really needs is to regain control over his situation ;D
either way i like the idea!
or what if his shell was hinged? and like... if he's on his back, his shell opens, his body flips, and then his back becomes his belly? kinda like a clam shell?
