Description
I'm brainstorming ideas for three compositions for an altar for a Lutheran church. The altar will be used for communion, baptism, and serve as the pastor's pulpit, so the scenes should reflect those uses. This idea shows Christ reading from Scripture in a synagogue in Nazareth. I talked to a classmate who has taken Hebrew so I can make sure the lettering in the scroll will be historically accurate.One of my inspirations for this piece is Rembrandt's warm portraits of Christ.
Thoughts on how to improve the composition would be appreciated. It's the center piece, so I've designed it more symmetrical.
