‘Psyche’ is a series surrounding the complexity of human consciousness, specifically our individual personalities. Our personalities are invisible to the naked eye, we can only truly know someone once there is a mutual comfort and trust. Then the process of opening up begins and only then will someones true self be revealed. This series allows the viewer to immediately grasp an individuals true self/colours without the need to converse. Each painting represents a specific personality type through the specific colours used. The foundations of my colour representation comes from the Colour Code Personality Profile, created by Dr. Taylor Hartman. Hartman divided personalities into four colours: Red (motivated by power), Blue (motivated by intimacy), White (motivated by peace), and Yellow (motivated by fun). I have chosen to build upon this and elaborate the personality profile, creating three distinctly intricate personalities.

Description:
‘Spontaneity’ is a portrait which embodies the personality of an individual who is generally motivated by fun. This person is predominately very enthusiastic, allowing very little to get in the way of their optimism for life. Persuasion is a skill which is used quite broadly throughout this persons existence, they certainly know how to get what they want. Overall, they are very spontaneous in nature, willing to grasp opportunities as they come and live in the moment. They develop friendships with ease but can be very self-centered, keeping them from forming meaningful relationships. Often they have lots of friends, but only on a superficial level. The strong presence and variation of the colours yellow and orange, in accordance with Hartman’s colour code, represent the fun this personality is driven to embody. However, there are far more colours present, these collectively represent the intricacy of consciousness. With an array of bright, eccentric, and poorly matched colours, this personality is certainly radical in nature. Although certainly not rid of faults, represented by the large fraction of black, ultimately they are very self centred and arbitrary.
