Clarification: Your version of Charmander, for example, while a good representation of what it would look like irl is much different than its original animation design.
Your version of Abra, however, offers both realism and stays true to its anime counterpart.

Websites the first step, then the book I think. The website allows me time to get everything finished so I can easily compile it all into the book without people losing interest

Yes, I agree! You can take time to compile it all while still providing stuff for people!
(And when you've written and sculpted all of the necessary images for the book, compiling it is much faster)
