This is a great prediction for penguins to take the role of cetaceans by evolving! Nice job on this!

Yep, clarifying the earlier comments, the book is called After Man, by Dougl Dixon, he had penguin-whales and -dolphins! Also, The Future Is Wild is awesome!

You should draw different animals that convergently evolve to animals you wouldn't expect like a chicken going to something like an ostritch

Boverisuchus In reply to Guyverman [2009-10-10 11:24:31 +0000 UTC]

not really.

A penguin converging on a whale is either atavistic or futuristic.

Awesome! Recalls the Vortex and Porpin of Dougal Dixon's "After Man," as others have noticed. He was heavily involved with Future is Wild, as well.

the future is wild is aweosme. This is quite possible. It could be a predator of gannet whales. Anyway, this is going to be one of my favs

Amoeba-like-thingy [2008-01-26 09:23:35 +0000 UTC]

Hmm... I'd like to see this 'future is wild'. Is it a TV show or can it only be bought on vid/dvd?

I like the semi-transparent look of the ice. The penguin reminds me much of a seal rather than a whale ^_^

How does it get around reproduction... move to live birth instead of egg-laying?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

JoshuaDunlop In reply to Amoeba-like-thingy [2008-01-26 10:01:32 +0000 UTC]

no they haul themselves onto shore like seals and lay them there. Future is wild is a TV programme but you can buy it on dvd on Amazon.com i think? Thankyou btw

FakaPokeBio [2007-08-14 21:39:23 +0000 UTC]

I figure that hundeds of people think penguins would be something like this in the future. I mean I made a report in 2005 about what I thought penguins would be like in the future and they were like half whales half seal bird things. Sadly I think I threw it away while my mom made me clean up my room this summer.

I think there waz a similar idea on that "evolutionary expeculation" book by Dougal Dixon ... I forgot the name, but was about animalz from the future, and I remember there waz a penguim too, but it waz diferent of your one.

fernfrondllama In reply to Zholt [2008-04-12 19:19:42 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it was called a vortex.

There were other, smaller ones called porpins too.
