Yep, clarifying the earlier comments, the book is called After Man, by Dougl Dixon, he had penguin-whales and -dolphins! Also, The Future Is Wild is awesome!

You should draw different animals that convergently evolve to animals you wouldn't expect like a chicken going to something like an ostritch

Here's a case of convergent evolution.

not really.
A penguin converging on a whale is either atavistic or futuristic.

Awesome! Recalls the Vortex and Porpin of Dougal Dixon's "After Man," as others have noticed. He was heavily involved with Future is Wild, as well.

the future is wild is aweosme. This is quite possible. It could be a predator of gannet whales. Anyway, this is going to be one of my favs

Hmm... I'd like to see this 'future is wild'. Is it a TV show or can it only be bought on vid/dvd?
I like the semi-transparent look of the ice. The penguin reminds me much of a seal rather than a whale ^_^
How does it get around reproduction... move to live birth instead of egg-laying?

I think there waz a similar idea on that "evolutionary expeculation" book by Dougal Dixon ... I forgot the name, but was about animalz from the future, and I remember there waz a penguim too, but it waz diferent of your one.

Yeah, it was called a vortex.
There were other, smaller ones called porpins too.
