Her name is Mara. I took pictures of her some years ago. I have always loved the picture, her expression. She gave that expression on her own. But, for this drawing, I changed her hair and clothing. The dress she wore for the picture was an off-the-shoulder piece, but I changed it somewhat for the drawing too. My reference guide for the hair came from several drawings from Rossetti himself.
