Description If any one remembers the PS2 Herdy Gerdy i was listening to the OST and felt inspired to create this clam secnic pony piece as i listened to it.

Also I was taking in inspiration from the old masters use of colour and detail to try a less vibrant approach to the paintings setting. its supposed to be a random abandoned windmill  outside of the ponyville area i thought it was an adorable idea that the  CMCs would go off exploring with Fluttershy.

fun fact this was my first time drawing semi real ducks XD i need to get better at drawing real animals.

Awesome piece. It's beautiful and I like the amount of elements of nature you put in this.

Typical CMCs. Always searching, always looking. They're kids/fillies after all.

Don't worry about the ducks. I'm sure you will get better.

You know, people like you just kinda piss me off. “Wow, I have tons of natural talent BUT THESE DUCKS SUCK OMG!!!1!!11!one!”

SOME people would KILL to be able to draw a duck HALF as good as this. Hell, those ducks were COMEPLETELY UNNOTICEABLE. You just have to go and complain about "how much practice you need."

Gawd.

I'm sorry to interrupt, but I think it's important for an artist (no matter what their skill level is) to acknowledge their faults or where they need to improve. I do the same, it's important for growth.
I would understand your complaint a little more if the artist here had, as you say, said they 'sucked' etc at drawing ducks but they didn't. They simply said it was their first time drawing the subject and that they feel they need to improve on animals. It didn't come across as reaching or fishing for compliments in my opinion.
EVERY artist should practice, whether they're a beginner or somebody who sells their work for millions.

He's merely indicating where he needs improvement. Nothin' wrong with that.

Like twinklestahh's misfired reply says, it's up to every artist to admit where they need improvement. Rather than chew out others just for being better, look at your own work with a critical eye. You can only improve.

I'm aware of that - I wanted them to see they had support as well.
But as this is apparently funny, I'll copy and paste & look like I'm just trying to hammer my point. Which I'm not.

You've been studying, haven't you?
I'm no painter, but even I can tell this is a huge leap forward for you, being able to chose and adopt a new style at will.
Would you be willing to say how you handled the grass and leaves? Authentic looking trees are something I've been struggling with.

certainly friend  i actually use custom wildlife and fur brushes for the trees and plans because they give such a nice lossiness and organic feel. I also create my own set of textures using the artistic set in photoshop and use sometimes will use any brush that seems fitting for foliage
