third one of the series and up front I must apologise for the appalling scan quality. I am using my parents scanner and this is the best of 5 which gives you some idea of how bad it is.

While scanning this I mused on more of the reasons that I find analogue technology so appealing and I think much of it has to do with its organic flowing nature and the the improbabilities it creates. Using an analogue medium throws and element of chance and randomness into the equation that can often add so much more. In music the subtle variations in the wood of instruments affects tone and playability. When using a valve amplifier with a guitar the harmonics created within add to the sound and it is the randomness that does this. Digital instruments and amps of course have their place and I of course use them but that element of chance has been destroyed in a wave or order. They do not have the subtleties that analogue has. That is not to say digital is bad. It is different with its own strengths and weaknesses. It is through a mixture of the 2 that we can best move forward in the world. Always pushing towards the future looking for new ideas but never forgetting the past.

This photo has many elements of randomness from such menial things as the fact that when the paper was placed in the enlarger it did not sit quite flat so there are spots of in focus and out of focus. There are many others swirling chemicals etc. I will leave it to you to find them as always constructive criticism and debate required!
