Description I finally got my store/cafe opened after nearly a year of renovation and jumping through all the regulatory crap that comes with being a business owner. It's been wonderful so far, and I've met so many awesome people. Gone, though, are those times when I could sit down and get lost in the process of making scenes for hours on end. Now I'm relegated to the wee hours of night to feed my addiction, but I have to do it or I'll go bananas!

I made this as a sort of update to an older image I made, but really it kind of took on a mind of its own. It's not necessarily part of any story in the Extrasolar universe ... yet! It just is what it is. I made this over several nights, and while it's not exactly what I originally set out to do, I have to throw it out here and move on.

Made with Poser, Marvelous Designer, Hexagon, and Vue. Some of the objects, like the big central building, were made by

Extrasolar is a collaboration with the man himself, Martin Clune "ying ting ding"

I honestly am not. I'm a critic. By experience and temperament.

I don't say anything at all to most so-called artists. I've learned the hard way to not bother giving actual feedback to most folks.

Back when I got paid to be an arts critic, I gave feedback and folks knew that I was being helpful. They were professionals, as was I.

You're not a professional 3D artist. But I think you could be. So thank you for being worth commenting on.

I'm very proud of you in so many ways Ryan, and Brenda as well, she has also worked hard and both of you are a success. You have come such a long way from your beginnings and I really hope you are grinning ear to ear over your accomplishments. The revision of this piece is amazing, I love how you designed the terrain and gave it so much depth. The foliage is amazing and structures simply mind boggling. I can see why BjΓΆrn's head exploded, mine did as well LOL! Reap the rewards my brother, you fully deserve it.

Thank you very, very much Vee! Yes, Brenda is bearing the brunt of running things in my absence, so she's the real super hero down there. It really is gratifying looking around at all we accomplished and even more so hearing compliments from customers and seeing them enjoy the space. It's incredibly satisfying and rewarding.

Congrats, congrats, congrats on your Grand Opening! Whoo Hoo! That is such awesome news! I'm so happy for you hon! You have achieved the goal you have worked so hard for! I'm so happy for you sweetie! How exciting too! I wish you the best of luck on this new venture and tons of customers too! yay!

Wow, love this epic scene you have created! I especially love the cape you have created on your character and how it is blowing with the wind! Gives the scene a great sense of movement! I also love how you have embedded the building structures into the mountainside. How cool is that! It looks so cool with the tree's growing over portions of it! What an awesome scene! Most excellent work hon! Yay!

Thank you, Suzi, for the compliment and well-wishes! It's been a touch year with lots of work, but it's all worth it now, though very hard juggling things. But I love it! I just hope to be in a position soon that I can stay there and do that solely. And yes, here's hoping for tons more customers so that I can realize that dream fully!

Duuuuuuuuuuuude!

I love the sense of scale and the "lost world" feel to this. The pyramid could have been lost forever if not for seeing it at the right angle. So many directions this image can take the viewer.

So once again I give you my salute! Duuuuuuuuuuuuude!

It's open? IT'S OPEN! Mate, serious congrats to you for all your time, blood, sweat and tears... I am absolutely stoked for you. Have you told your (ex?) employers to fuck right off yet?

Here is to your business venture, and your beautiful artwork <3

Thank you, Kane!!! Yes, open as of June 19. Considering there's not been a lick of advertising done, the turn-out and response so far has been very good. Just lots and lots and lots of planning and work. And no, sadly I'm still a slave to the old Day Job, at least until I get the store on its own feet. And then I can have that magical day when I can see the Gestapo fading away forever in my rear-view mirror. In the meantime I'm just taking it all with a grain of salt and keeping my head high. It's so refreshing being there at my place, even being bone-tired and exhausted. The people I've met there are so awesome. I love it. And I'm my own freaking boss! Such a nice new treat.

How is your dream home coming along? Moved in yet? Hope all is well with you over there.

Continue building a good reputation and you'll have no shortage of loyal customers, I have no doubt my friend! Sad to hear you're still slaving away at the old job, but I guess it will take time to ramp up to a point where it can sustain you financially? In any case, may that day come sooner rather than later; you deserve some good things coming your way <3

As for our dream home: [link] - only a few months away now, they've almost finished putting on the roof

There will always be a bed here for you, should you ever find yourself visiting NZ - count on it.

Wow, look at that! It's so big! It's looking wonderful, Kane. I'm know you're very excited to see this unfold and become reality. I'm soooo very happy for you! Thank you for sharing.

And thanks so much for the hospitality! That's so very kind, and I will take you up on that one of these days - count on it! And some goes here -- you mates always have a place here when you get back to these parts.

I've met so many amazing people already at the store. It's wonderful getting to sit there and chit-chat with like-minded folks who are enjoying the space and energy there. It's almost surreal. I love it!

You should post up some photos of the store somewhere sometime - would love to see what it looks like. Sounds like this is a well thought out plan as well in terms of being something the community there needed or wanted. Given time to build up a loyal clientèle and a good reputation and you'll be sitting pretty

Hahahaha, Ying, ting, ding! Konichiwa! Martin Clunes desu Now let us talk about the image: SCREAM!!! FAINT!!! Now when I finally stopped fainting and screaming, because of its total awesomeness, I am going to try to put the screaming into actual words… like SCREEEEAM!!!!! FAINT! I do not even know where to begin. The cliffs are just fantastic! I love the massive scale of the scene. The character, the clothes, the props. Love the screen thingy!! All whipped together to a perfect Amuse-bouche of what is in store in the Extrasolar universe There a number of places on Orion that this can be. An early habitat? A forgotten settlement?, Something alien perhaps? Hmmm, HMMMM?

Wonderful work my friend, and congratulations!!!!!! You made your dream come true. You are your own boss. You are free!!!!
