Back piece tattoo I designed for a good friend of mine, ilmalocchio [link]It's my first time coming up with wings that I like. I was gonna put in the typical flames, but after thinking about it (and watching Harry Potter) the bird burns and is reborn from the ashes. Therefore if it were on fire, it would be "dying."
To be rising from the ashes is much more of an empowering image, I think. 
She's still gonna add some UV ink flames around the bird. Should look awesome under a black-light...18x24 inches

yeah, she has it on her back now and I have to say... the tattoo artist did an awesome job. I didn't think he'd get all of the detail, but he did. I'm not sure if she got UV ink, but I'll ask her.

Those wings are crazy! So much detail. I love the little whip-like things coming off his tail, too. I think it was a good choice not to have him on fire. Every phoenix tattoo in the world has the bird on fire, hahaha.
