Description A painter always has "special" paintings. Paintings that he falls in love with even before starting to make them. This is a clear example. When I saw this photo, I was automatically transported to my childhood, to those walks on this street hand in hand with my mother, looking at the shop windows and squinting at the brightness of the light. The life of one of the main streets of Cadiz, its people, its balconies and also the photo is from the year I was born.

From the beginning it was clear to me that I should look for strong contrasts of light and shadow and play with broken ochres and violets. The color balance had to be a priority. Sketch the background and pay attention to the weight of light in the figures. The viewer had to feel that intensity of light that made me almost close my eyes when I was little. The composition was already almost perfect in the photo so I didn't have to make any major changes. Everything worked well from the beginning and I was delighted with the end result. Possibly the painting with which I end up happiest and most satisfied to date.

Original watercolor painting made with Schminke Horadam watercolors on 300 gr Canson Heritage paper. 30x30cm. Made in January 2022.
