If you consider yourself a Naruto Uzumaki fan, why can't you accept he loves Sakura and NOT Sasuke, Hinata or Tenten? If you consider yourself a Zuko fan, why can't you accept he loves Mai and NOT Katara, Jin, Song or Sokka? If you consider yourself a Sasuke Uchiha fan, why can't you accept he doesn't love Sakura, Hinata, Tenten, Naruto, Rock Lee, Gaara, Suigetsu, JΕ«go or Karin?I HATE how people think it's OK to do whatever they want with a character just because it's not a real person
It's like a Recolor, except all you do is change their personality and claim them to be the same character
It's not okay to do something like that with someone else's OC, IS IT?! >:C

If you are a fan of Waka, why can't you accept that he loves Amaterasu, not Kaguya, Issun, Ishaku, or Abe.

I don't have a problem with Yaoi in general but I have a problem with the average yaoi couples, and you seem to have the same problem.
I like any couple if they're well written and have good chemistry (which most Naruto canon couples don't), but most Yaoi (and Yuri) fans seem to like any couple as long as they're sexy, something I despise.

Abe is FASCINATED by Waka, being FASCINATED by someone isn't the same as being in LOVE with someone.
I DO however support Ishaku, Issun, Abe, and Kaguya as Waka's FRIENDS! (Hey he didn't snap at Kurow in Okamiden when he thought he was Waka so maybe he moved on)

No offense, but I don't fully agree with this. I like a few characters who are disliked greatly by their respective fandoms, and I wish thy could be rewritten better so fans would like them more. Just my 2 cents.

Did you knew that Masashi Kishimoto likes yaoi? Yes, the creator of Naruto, likes yaoi, and he already admitted that he liked SasuNaru. YES, HE DID (That's why their kiss happened). Go search for it. This basically means that the owner of the mangΓ‘ can picture a character with another that is not the one he likes, even if it is of the same GENDER. And... Are you even reading the Naruto latest chapters? He and Hinata were holding hands, after she claimed she loved him, to face the fight together, not much, but it is enough. I can like a character, and I ALSO can like such character with another specific person.
Oh, and by the way, it doesn't matter if the character is real or not, because there are people who want actors to be with another actors (the ones that make Thor and Loki, for example, for search for it too)
And, so what the the character likes somebody else? We can make alternative universes, we can make our own stories, we don't CARE if it's never going to happen, we like it, so what? We can dream, if it doesn't happen, we didn't get the pairing right, but we think that some couples could be nice together if they tried.
I respect your opinion about letting the character be with the ones they like (for example, I think the pairing of Inuyasha are perfect and should be together), but just because some people don't think the same as you, maybe because they like another person and want them to be together -even if is not of the oposite gender, because changes of sexuality have happened before,(an example is Brokeback Mountain) and people are free to think anything they want to- doesn't mean they should not be considered fans of such character.
I don't like Rock Lee with Sakura, for example. She is a horrible person to him most of the times, she calls him ugly and would never date him. So I don't want Rock Lee to be with Sakura because she doesn't deserve him, but just because he likes her it's with her that he should end up with, even if it is NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN?! I am free to think that he should be with someone that would end up loving him, the way he deserves to be loved, and you don't respect that?! And I know more about Rock Lee that some people that think he should be with Sakura will EVER know.
And sometimes, even though it doesn't happen, we have hints or cute moments that we like and realized that if they tried, they would be a very nice couple (ever watched Kuroshitsuji? The boy is engaged with a lovely girl yet that are several hints of him being with his butler, so much that they made sure to show it at future merchandising or even at the Kuroshitsuji Musicals and TV specials or even at the own mangΓ‘)
I do not like when they change the character's personality to make him like other. For example, when they try to make a cute blushing feminine Gaara to end up with Lee or Naruto or whatever. Gaara does't cry (only once when he fought his father), he never changes his expression, he doen't blush, he barely moves, he is a very mysterious man. But he ever said that he doesn't like man? And when a sexuality ever made someone not fight over a couple? This sound like homophobia to me.
Just because you like a couple doesn't mean we should like it too. You have your opinion, I have mine. So what if mine is not going to happen? It's fun to use your imagination and try to create some sort of different reality of your favorite character with another pairing and make it look realistic, this just shows how much you like the person, because your are capable of making him be with another one without turning him into a totally different personality.
The difference it that I respect your opinion about the pairing you choose to like, but you claim to be a better fan just because you follow the script? So Masashi Kishimoto isn't a fan of his own mangΓ‘?! So Yana Toboso (creator of Kuroshitsuji, that said that she likes yaoi and make the hints on purpose because she wants the character to be together and think they are cute, but it would ruin the plot and the mysterious magic) isn't a fan of her own mangΓ‘ either?! Is that homophobia? To me, love doesn't come from the gender, it comes if the person itself, and so people think the same, and they, they realize 'why can't those characters think like that too?'
And we are free to think anything we want. It's our brain, it's our mind. People can't control their thought, if they like it, they can talk about it, they can draw about it, write about it.
The creator of anime thought this could happen the moment they showed their characters to public, if fact, they even like it, because it helps to spread their characters and anime/books/show/cartoons/whatever to the entire world, they feel like they touched someone to the point where such person uses its own free time to think about their creations. It's a free world.
If they think a character would be happy with someone of the same gender, who are we to judge it? If fact, that means people are supporting different kinds of love, even to future generations, we are finally getting rid of the negative era that surrounded and oppressed so many people. Sorry for the bad world, but why the hell would you be against that?
And yes, Mashashi Kishimoto, he is, the first parts of Naruto show a little bit of that, before he went to the main plot. This was told years ago, way before shippuden (or however the way its written)

true, but zuko and mai are offically broken up (just sayin' lol) i may like zutara, but i accept that kataang happened. and sasuke's always iffy/ never clear on his own romantic preference (maybe he just doesn't have one lol) but i get what you mean: people say they like a character when at the same time they distort their actual feelings for somebody. but usually people distort the character's reason early on in show, like take naruto for example. clearly naruto loves sakura from episode/chapter 3, but then one of two things happens: 1) they don't think the person they like/destined to be with is right, so they choose someone else for them (in the very beginning of part 1, sakura had no interest in naruto and was always mean to him and naruto was always a huge clown etc so they didn't seem right) 2) they see someone else who ALREADY appears to care a lot more about them (like hinata, but just to make it clear i agree with naruto and ship narusaku XD), so they then decide to ship that instead, and over time they fool themselves into believing BOTH characters like each other, when in reality only one or none of them likes each other that way.
also people distort a character's love preference just for the hell of it/ it's fun, but then the fun is taken out of it when people start arguing and fighting and having wars over which ship is better (i admit i have been guilty of that in the past) instead of just letting people have fun with the fandom.

They broke up in the comic series "the promise", the sequel to avatar the last airbender, when zuko didn't tell her about his secret visits to his dad. she was mad because he kept these things from her and didn't confide in her, and though zuko said he loved her and what not, she broke up with him. she found out about his secrets when suki told mai about it, because suki hoped that if mai knew, she'd be able to help him, but nonetheless, she left him.
