Description This was a piece done for my design basics class in college. We were supposed to create "a vessel for our soul, a place for its safe keeping, where it can at peace and out of harm".

I had created a few designs that involved vases or containers, but then I just went with this design of a vessel formed by the elements of fire, water, nature and wind that would surround my soul.

It was to be done just in black and white and we were only allowed to use an inch of color. Done on 14" x 17" Bristol paper using 3H, HB and a ebony pencil.

absolutely marvelous. i love how well you combined the 4 elements together for the vessel.
imo, the red gives it a slightly evil/sinister feel, not sure if thats what you were aiming for.

Thank you very much for the wonderful comment!

Yeah I kind of wanted the red to represent passion, which can be interpreted as my passion for art, for the things I like and for love.

Oh yeah! I guess I'm not such a lovey-dovey type of person, I totally forgot that red sometimes means love, ie. hearts... xD

Haha that's fine, I totally see your view too, and that's what's great about art, that it allows for multiple individual interpretations of a single piece

Hehe, yep!
It's all in the eye of the beholder. Art is a mysterious yet beautiful thing. ^^
