I got it, they just washed all of the characters but with too much bleach. That's why they look so desaturated and void of life.
On the other hand: I just imagined Simba running around waving like this (with this expression) in cheerleader outfit xD.

I'm more fond of the animated Scar since his design is just so iconic, but also as I know we discussed in the past, I'm fine with the CGI Scar as well and think that it does fit well due to the malnourished look and scruffy mane that resembles the Tsavo lion, known for their high aggression.
Honestly I don't get why people constantly have to voice how much they hate it. Like I get it, people know, you keep saying it all the time but isn't it about time to stop being pathetic and just move on? Normally the average, logical, person knows how to just suck it up and move on like an adult, not whine and gripe like a little spoiled toddler who didn't get his fifth bowl of ice cream for the day.

I actually like both their designs
CGI simba is fucking adorable
and Scar has a certain...feel to him. He feels like an older, bitter lion, I guess. Not sure wwhat it is

To me, the animated Scar is more evil tbh. I don't hate the remake but the live action Scar looks like a lion who is good, its just life that didn't give him any chance. The animated Scar is more like, 'Life's not fair cuz I'm better than my brother but he's the king I shall KILL him!!' while the live action is like, 'Ugh, life's not fair. I was born to beg and my brother is born to get all the glory. I'm a trash, why was I born a trash so I'm starting to get angry and kill my brother...ok...' The new Scar looks like he's just killing his brother and exiling his nephew just cuz of anger while the animated Scar gives more of a cold blooded murdered vibe. He looks pure evil. This might sound weird but feel me, anyone? XD

I think there's a different reason. Realism. The new live action is more realistic in its graphics. Most people seeing this movie are probably adults who grew up with the animation. A villain with a cartoon ambition does things "Just because!!" but the adult watching the movie probably want more than a flat character. There was many opportunities they could have fleshed out in the animation that was cut out. Now we have a more grown up reason right at the start of the movie. His birthright was unfair and he envies simba's. This gives him a more realistic motive to kill his brother.

You're right, yes. They proly wanted to develop Scar's character. But in my opinion they just kinda ruined it. Scar wanting power over his brother for no reason seems more evil than the Scar who wants power just because he envies Simba and Mufasa. And then there's gonna be no 'Be Prepared' whihc just...ruins the original Scar
