As far as I know. I have not updated the file in a long time. I can't test it either as I have now tried and failed 3 attempts at getting LS to work on Win10.

Yea, unfortunately I think that's a result of yahoo's api changing, and thus making the widget coding I used out of date. I also didn't code the widget and don't know how to code a new one. I guess I just need to update the LS to either use a new widget for LS or find something else to display there.

Because I have never used Blackbox before, I cannot give a full answer, however I can give an answer based upon what I have seen.
I believe that Blackbox offers a much more simplified interface in terms of graphics by not providing a method of using images for each an every graphical interface component. This causes Blackbox to appear very similar to Linux based machines, while litestep interfaces have many more options in terms of appearance. Litestep also allows for the use of modules to increase or decrease the complexity of the interface. For example, I have imported a module to allow for the display of the battery percentage for laptops, and another module to allow for the display of the local weather, and a third module to allow for the creation of a 'start menu'. By choosing to import these modules I can increase the complexity of the interface. I could leave these modules out and still have a fully working user interface, it would just lack the ability to display certain information. Because of this, I believe that litestep gives more customization of the interface. I know that Blackbox offers some of the same functionality, but I believe litestep offers a greater range of options.
Again, this information should be taken with a grain of salt, as I do not have experience with Blackbox, and can only tell you what I have heard from other deviants using Blackbox.

Oh I'm sure blackbox has some of the same capabilities as litestep. But I have never seen a blackbox setup with as much complexity as a litestep setup, leading me to believe that some functionalities are not there.
Additionally, the litestep skin library is larger, so many more options to choose from than blackbox.
People are working on Windows 10 64 bit compatible modules at the moment to replace the current 32 bit modules that give newer systems an issue. I'm not sure how my litestep runs so well considering I run Win 7 x64.

Shift+left click on the desktop to bring up a settings menu where you can change whether or not to display battery percentage. This can all be found in the readme.txt file inside the zip file. The clock might not be displaying if the weather isn't working, the weather will display to wide and cover the clock. I'd have to see a screenshot to be certain.
And I'm glad you enjoy my theme friend, I appreciate the kind words!

What do you mean? The computer I made this on is x64 windows 7, so it should work with 64 bit if that's what you're asking about.

ah, windows 10. if you're on windows 10 you probably have the litestep x64 build, which uses x64 modules, which are very few and wont work with almost any themes out right now. i never tried installing the x86 version try installing that one and try againn

Have you tried talking to neiio ? I think he was able to make a theme working with Win 10. I have looked at his code, and he seems to be using the same modules as me, so I'm not sure why his works with Win 10 while mine does not.
His theme is Plasma by the way.

Could you tell me a bit about LiteStep? I had Windows 7 in a VM on my mac, downloaded LiteStep, but I think the one I downloaded was outdated. I'd try to use some themes and a bunch of components needed to be downloaded, but wouldn't. Is LiteStep meant for pre win7? Or is there a special, compatible version floating around somewhere that works?
I'm really curious about doing the whole VM thing again & I'd love to try this out.

Sure thing. I'm running Windows 7 x64, which is known to have issues with litestep, though I have not had any for quite some time. I recommend downloading litestep from the main website litestep.net . That's where I downloaded it. Your issue sounds like you don't have a lot of the modules that litestep runs on, and the download site from older themes are down now. I have zipped up my module folder and uploaded it here for you to download (Warning: 20 MB). Simply merge this folder with your modules folder in your litestep directory. Additionally, sites like ShellFront and Greywool have a bunch of modules you can download manually and place within the same modules folder as before. Be sure to place the .dll files in the modules folder and not just the plain .zip file.
As for litestep being meant for pre windows 7, the answer is yes and no. Litestep runs best for pre W7, but still works with later versions of windows. I am not running any special version to make it work with W7. Currently there are newer modules being developed that are designed to work with the newer operating systems. However, none of my litestep skins use these newer modules, as I don't know how to code with them yet, so my skins, as well as much of mangosango 's skins should work with litestep still, which are where most of my skin coding begins before I do a lot of my modification. Also check cathycatchy 's, Danlosant 's and ganknevets ' galleries for litestep skins developed recently on Windows 7. Those skins should work well.
Hope this helps!

I think I was running Win7 x32 because I had an older Mac, and I think you're right with it being the modules missing. I'd download a theme & only some parts would apply because not all the modules downloaded. I tried to get those .dll from Microsoft's website, 'cause each theme would mention I needed a specific version/year, but I'd never end up with exactly the right one(s) & it just turned into a mess, lol.
Thanks for all the help! I put a Win8 VM up the other day, but maybe I'll scratch that, try 7 and give this all a go again. Cheers!

Litestep should work well on Win7 x32 as far as I know. The one from the litestep website is for x32. The modules should all come from those two module websites I posted, not microsoft. Good luck if you decide to get 7 running with Litestep!
