Description Well. Hm... don't have much to say about this one... I found a sketch of a mermaid I drew 2 years ago, decided to redraw it, and add a background. It looked better as a sketch I think, and colored, it looks better on the paper. I have run out of sketch pad paper, and had to use a different sheet of paper- one I'm not used to. So the shading... what shading?? I'm never using that kind of paper again!! Gah!!

I love this one! You did an incredible job with the water! Do you use pencils? I've just never been able to do water, especially with pencils and you do so wonderfully with it!

Oh my goodness, thank you for such a lovely comment! This one doesn't get a lot of attention. Yes, I use colored pencils! Crayola, nothing special artsy.

I wonder why not! It's absolutely stunning! I just wish I could do that with my colored pencils! Crayola has been my friend for many years as well. I just recently received a set of Prismacolors for my birthday but I keep the Crayolas around. They've done me well over the years and I still use them too. You've so very welcome. Honestly this is one of the best mermaid pieces I've seen!

This is a really nice work! I like that the mermaid isn't a Disney-like mermaid and the colouring is really good. The only thing that I don't like is the way the rock looks like it's floating, is that how it's supposed to look? Like a tall rock above the sea? Really good job!

Wow... it's beautiful... YES you should keep it up!

I absolutely LOVE how you did the sky and water; i think that's the accenting feature of this picture... you see the setting sun's reflection against the shimmery water, and it guides you to the dark rock that stands out and finally to the... very beautiful blonde mermaid sitting on it... you have a gift for sunset reflection on water, i swear... i STILL haven't mastered that....

I really like her hair too. I changed it a little from my sketch I did couple years ago- she didn't have that hair-bun in her hair, and not so many curls. She also had a "Sleeping Beauty curl" in her bangs.

A couple days too many. The shading was taking forever- the paper wasn't letting me blend the colors! I was getting so frustrated after I did the sky, I almost thought of forgetting the whole thing... but... it's growing on me.
