Description Hi, it's me again with another very incomplete little flash-game.
To say the truth it's much more incomplete, than complete.
Right now, only the basic engines are ready for testing.
So, I thought maybe you can help me test it. You all did a great job reporting the bugs on Majora, so I hope that you can help me this time, too.
It's a Zelda-Stealth game (like the name is saying).
I got the inspiration from the original zelda. In almost every zelda game, there is a stealth passage, so I thought: why not making a mini-game about it.

I will now list, the things that I would like you to test:
1. The map creator:
The map always creates random. Please tell me when you got some freaky results.
2. The movement of link:
Maybe, Link will run in an invisible wall. If something like that happens, tell me.
3. The "guards" (Right now, they are water barrels, because I was too lazy to cut out the original castle guard) and the lines of sight:
Tell me, if a "guard" moves in a crazy way or doesn't move at all or if the black points are created in a weird way.

And of course, if you see other bugs, tell me too.

Actually I'd like to hear every thought of you:
Do you like the game idea, do you think it's good to upload an incomplete game for testing, etc.

I'm looking forward to hear your thoughts!


Controls:
Use Arrow keys for the movement.
With holding shift, you can go slower (sneak). Right now it has no use, though.

Oh, I forgot to say:
As always: I you got any idea, what I should add to this game, please say it. No matter wether you think it's good or bad.
I'd love to hear other ideas, too

Update 1:
1. I added animation if Link moves diagonally.
2. If a guard sees Link, the guards stop moving and Link can't move anymore.
3. Fixed a few minor bugs

Update 2:
1. Replaced the barrels with guards.
2. Removed the fields of sight.
3. Added statues (It's yet a known bug, that sometimes it looks like Link was below those statues.
4. If you now reach the end of the way, a new Level is created and new guards appear.

Update 3:
1. Added a game over screen
2. Optimized the source code a little

The only thing wrong I can see is the layering with the statues. Link needs to be drawn atop of them, when standing before...

no right now it's just a demo-version.
So there is no end of the game.
But it's a good idea to meet Zelda at the end.
Maybe I'll add this.

Very good! My only suggestions as of now would be a way to track progress and an easier way to reset the game once you're caught.

awesome game!
i didn't see any problems that you didn't know about (like the statues XD)

but i would suggest making something that lets you know you were caught- like some sound or quick animation that says game over- if its not too much work ^^

because, at first, i thought it was the game just froze when they spotted me and thats why i couldn't move, but i see you went for that effect- if you made it restart when you got caught, then i wouldn't have to refresh the page every time i fail XD

one last thing: i see two ways as to how you "win"
Either
1. you reach an end at some point where you've actually just beaten the game
OOOOR
2. (i dunno how possible this is, but) you go until you're caught, and your score increases as you go on, and once you die your deviantART name is out on a highschore board or something of the sorts XDD

...but those are all just suggestions c:
do whatever you want with your game ITS LOOKING GOOD SO FAR!

you're absolutely right. I added the game over screen right a few hours ago, but I think I will upload this version tomorrow.

I thought about the winning, too.
The problem is: While programming my other game, majora, I found out that a highscore at dA isn't possible.
So you can't save your score. But I think I will do it infinite nevertheless.

Sooooo ... my link actually started moving on its own The only other problem is I'm confused as to what the objective is in order to win the game: do I just walk around avoiding the "guards"? Do I do something at the fountains? Do I go to the other side of the path? Other than that I absolutely LOVE it!!!! It's so cool and I loved the graphics and simplicity of it all.

It's just a test release.
So, there is no goal. Not yet.
Link started moving on it's own? That's weird.
Can you describe when it happend (directly on the start, after pressing buttons, etc.)

It just happened. I didn't even touch the screen and he started running around. I thought for a sec that is was supposed to be like an example of how to play cuz he avoided every single guard and just kept on moving ... and then several minutes went by and I figured maybe something was up. It did that twice. I dunno if it's the game or my computer cuz my laptop's been kinda shotty lately.

He just ran all over the entire screen avoiding all the barrels. It was kinda funny actually. Sorry I'm not replying right away. I had really bad connection where I was before, but now I'm good.

hmm, I can hardly believe that because in the source code, there isn't one word about Link moving itself, especially avoiding all the barrels.

Just now I spotted another error. You know how you made it so the guards and Link stop moving if one of them spots Link? Well my map just now basically spawned a guard on top of me and I didn't have any time to react before it caught me in its sights.

Oh yes, you're right.
This can happen if you have bad luck.
The guards are programmed to spawn absolutely random.

For an incomplete game, this is turning out very well! For the times I restarted the map was created nicely, no bugs i nthat. (Unless you want to count three fountains as a bug ). He didn't end up running into an invisible wall, or bugging out and moving in opposite directions, etc. From what I could tell, the guards were moving correctly and the lines of sight were smooth. As well as the game idea is very cute! ^^ This is a good way to capture how to move around in Zelda and not be caught every time.
I also like the idea of uploading an incomplete game. It may take away some surprise as to what you might make, but it allows for people to test it out, see if they like the concept. It also lets you know what's wrong with the game on a bigger scale, rather than just by two or three people. An idea I have (not sure how well this would work out, though) could be kinda like the guards in Spirit Train, if I remember correctly. Like, if the dot farthest away from the guard is the dot that Link is seen in, then instead of just stopping completely, the guard (and that guard alone) could start rushing towards him and give Link a chance to get away. If he gets away, the guards go back to their regular routine.

I don't know anything about flash games, so I don't know how that would turn out creation-wise!

That's a great idea.

It's possible for the guard to move onto Link, although if you had detection hopefully it'd be fixed when he's seen, or you could just have collision detection. Either way, this is a pretty good start.

If the game is ready, Link and the guard can not collide because the guard will see Link before.

It looks pretty good so far to me. It's an interesting concept, though not all that interesting the play at the moment because there is no penalty if you get spotted or caught and there's no way to move on to other stages yet. But as you said, it's incomplete. I haven't seen any problems with the maps or "guards," but I did notice something else kind of funny and strange. It is possible to move Link diagonally if you hit multiple arrow keys at once, but doing this makes Link's walking animation freeze and it looks as if he's skating over the ground. I found it to be kind of funny, but thought I'd mention it in case you didn't want it to look like that.
