Description edit - I've had a couple requests for a critique option on another painting in this series, so I'm opening it up for all of them. I appreciate constructive criticism to help me improve future works!

Longer description below, if you want to read it.

Basically this is what I have been working on since the first of the year for my classes. It integrates yoga, the human body and mind, and nature... trying to show balance and harmony. It was also a practice in landscapes and backgrounds for me; a subject I feel I was lacking in.

This was my fourth painting in the series, and the one I looked forward to most in planning. I used references from Vash'jir, one of the new zones in World of Warcraft's Cataclysm expansion. It's probably on my top list of favorite zones...
I worked hard on this painting to make it seem luminescent and glowing. It is definitely one of my favorites from the series, although it was not shown in my exhibition because it did not seem as cohesive with the ones that did get shown.

I don't think these images are the best quality, and if I can ever get better quality I will upload it. I hope you enjoy!

-Long Description
This is part of my BALANCE series that I have been working on since the first of the year for the gallery exhibition that seniors in my Presentation class participate in. Most of us are graduating, woohoo!, and we get a gallery space for 2 weeks.

My concept was to integrate the human figure into a natural landscape and show the beauty, balance, and harmony that can come between humans and nature. The yoga poses in the pieces demonstrate a physical and inner balance that people can achieve. Personally I relate this balance as connecting to our natural world, whether we merely appreciate or also try to do something to help better the world around us.

The concept was actually inspired during my own yoga practices as I was able to connect within myself and find a peace and tranquility that further allowed my mind to connect with different ideas of nature and human integration with the world around us.

I hope that all makes sense. I tried to keep it simple and explanatory. And I hope you enjoy seeing these. I worked hard on these and I feel they show both my grasp on "fine art" and "illustration"... both of which I think can be combined sometimes. I feel I was pretty successful on that combination, and I do believe my series was successful in what I wanted to achieve.

Thanks!

Yoga is wonderful.. very much self-discovery and quieting of the mind. Plus it helps with balance and flexibility. It makes the day seem more positive! You should try it if you are interested, you might find a love for it like I did.

Well.. I am a sales associate lol... I guess practice works.

You won't be the only guy doing yoga, by any means. I know tons of males that do it. In fact, my teacher is a male.
