"Another day in The Outlands; weather was pretty much the same, dry with the orange sky. It was one of those days, the lionesses of the pride had tried to hunt for food but they found nothing nearby. They even looked for hours but no luck, at least not today. They saved some leftovers for the two cubs to eat, but it wasn’t enough. At least they had their mother’s milk for the moment.
It was a gloomy day and to make it even worse, Kifuji and Zira were arguing again inside the cave. Nuka would hear them from outside, as he was sitting next to Dotty while his brothers were playing with Spotty, who wasn’t so joyful.
“They’re fighting again…” Nuka said, almost to himself. Back when he was younger he also heard the fights Zira had with Scar, although those seemed far worse than these ones, but still, he just hated this. Not to mention the fact that Kifuji hasn’t been feeling so well these last few weeks, they didn’t know what was wrong, but he wasn’t in such good shape. Nuka looked at Dotty and asked, “Dotty, do you think we should return to The Pridelands?”
Dotty shrugged, “I don’t know, really. I’ll always be by Zira’s side but we don’t know the state of that place right now, maybe it’s even worse than here. One thing I know is that if we don’t move somewhere better soon, we might starve to death.” She noticed Nuka seemed even more worried now. “Not to scare ya, Nuka, but it’s the truth. You could try and talk to her, y’know, perhaps she’ll listen to you.”
“I tried! But she’s been mean to me lately, pushing me away…” He said with a sad voice, “She said to take care of Vitani and Kovu and that’s it. Does she even care for me anymore…?”
“Of course she does!” Dotty said, she almost seemed offended by his question, “You’re her son, Nuka, and the only thing that reminds her of Scar. I don’t know if this last thing is good or bad… whatever- thing is, she loves you. Try harder, trust me, she’s just not in the right place at the moment.”
“I’ll try… I love my mum, and I hate seeing her like this.” He sighed.
“Ah, don’t worry… She’s had very rough moments, and still managed to get out fine! I’m sure same will happen again. Just give her some time.”
“Were your parents like this, Dotty?” Nuka asked, curious.
“Not really, no. My parents were really kind to each other and to us. They offered a home to your mother when she was a cub, so we grew up together for the most part.” She smiled, remembering her parents but her smile quickly faded away. “Until… well, they died.”
Spotty, who was there hearing the conversation, growled a bit and the two cubs got a little scared. “No point in remembering that, sister. And you, Nuka,” she stood up looking at him, “instead of asking so many questions, come and play with YOUR siblings. I’m not a playground.” She turned around and walked some meters to lay down by herself.
The cubs started to whine a bit, so Nuka got to them quickly and in just a few seconds the two were playing with Nuka’s tail, like nothing had happened. “Sorry, Dotty, I didn’t mean-“
“It’s fine… Don’t worry about it. She’s been like this since our parents died. Didn’t do us any good, and she was the most affected by it.” She pushed her thoughts away. “Anyway, you seem to have control over those two little devils.” She smirked at them.
Nuka laughed a bit. “Yeah- they really seem to like me.”
“They clearly can’t smell that good yet, or else…”
“Hey! You’re the one to talk!”
The day faded away as Nuka spent time with his siblings and with Dotty. He was really glad to have someone to talk to, and so did she. The two got along together really well. After all, having some laughs in a place like this, with the current situation… was a miracle."

More bonding time between Nuka and his siblings... and with Dotty. And a moody-Spotty, the usual. And wait, Kifuji's sick?
