Description This little youngster has the potential to turn out mighty interesting
when fully grown up. It is my own breeding and the parents are halfmoon's.
The dad (Ludwig) is a Red Blue Dragon, and mother is Red Blue.
I have a strong feeling this have the dragon gene, but it all remains to
see what it will be like in a couple of more weeks. It is still very young
(young enough to not be able to decide the gender) only about 7 weeks
old or so.
It is so fun to breed bettas and play with the genetics. And I do LOVE all of my
bettas x3
Ludwig, Bartók, Berlioz, Pierluigi, Léonin and all the girls and fry!

May I ask you a question about breeding bettas Jullelin?

I'm just raising my very first fry out of an accidental breeding and Im a little worried about them because thex are about 7 weeks now and still not much bigger than 1,5 cm. Im feeding them Artemia every day which they all like and accept very well.
Temprature inside their tank is about 27° just like with most of my adults. There are no other fish in there only the fry.
I already considered raising the temperature but heared that higher tempratures might cause them to end up less robust and more sensitive towards changes of water quality, temperature and so on.

My question is if it's normal that they are still that small? Or do think something is wrong with them?

I think you do everything right, according to what you have been writing.
Sometimes it just takes longer for some fry to grow steadily.

One thing you could possibly do, is to change 50% of the water daily to

improve the water quality. Other than that, you seem to do everything right.

They do better with the water changes and the slightly raised temperature. Thanks so much for the advice Jullelin.
They are still small but three (out of 13) already show a little color (if you can call wild brownish a color xD). One
has a tiny bit of red shine on it's fins just like their sire. But I guess they are still to small to spend any thought on
how they might turn out.

Thank you so much Jullelin.
I will try that out and I raised the temperature about 1° too.
I'm really excited for them to show color. The dad was a pineapple
and the mother was black with very thin dark blue stripes in her
fins.
She's a half-moon and he's offcially a half-moon too but I think he's
a mix between veiltail and halfmoon.

Oooo very interesting! Will it return that color as it ages?? If so, I do hope it is a male...what a gorgeous guy it would be!!

I am slightly hoping it will remain this way. But everything can happen until they are fully grown x3
Hihi, also remains to wait and see about the gender
