I know its not like me to submit so much of a single genre ... or topic ... but well stake me here I go again.This mate here is Shadow 2, or just "Matchstick".
Last quote, his response about what was wrong with his engines:

Painting shows him just a second before the systems fail and explode while he tries everything he can to "keep it together" from inside the cockpit of his BTL-B Y-Wing. The explosion took Matchstick, his gunner as well as Tag and his Gunner who where caught in the explosion.
With their death, they helped saving 60,000 others. I guess thats a deal after all...

That happens if you take you ships straight from the testing facility ,kids. Dont ignore the engineers advice to let them fully test out and adjust them before you take them.
