The situation is a big mess, really. People are refusing to heal people without halos and vice versa.

Facepunch's Daimao was kind enough to skin it for me in a few hours. It essentially replaces any person's head wearing a halo with a giant bullseye.

Yes. However, I'm not mad about losing the one hat I got. I lost all of my weapons. None of them were gotten by idling means.

If you got them via achievements, they're going to be restored soon. Apparently removing illegitimate items is not an exact science.
Though, keep in mind Valve has said that in the future they'll just take all items instead of the cheated ones.

All valve did to decide who cheated was "Hmm, you have more then one hat, you cheated. Say goodbye to your inventory" or "Oh, you have four level 100 weapons? Goodbye." They never had any proof of what items were fake, so they just deleted any item that wasn't the level you get them if you got it VIA achievs

Well Valve made the maker of it shut it down, so you can't now. There's nothing wrong with it. It was just taking up less resources than sitting in a idle server.
