After the Empire took over, Barris was put forward to be executed for her crimes. She was taken alongside a few others to be executed as a group(to save time) and placed in one cell where they waited. In the cell were a few Jedi that had been captured, a bounty hunter, criminals, and two clones. She uses the force to see small snips of their stories and realizes that they were all loyal to their people and were only doing their job or were innocent. But she accepts their fate and meditates one last time. She opens her eyes when the cell is powered down and guards are attacked by a figure in clone armor. The stranger knocks the guards unconscious and goes to help the prisoners free. He tells them that they can go wherever they want, but know that the rebellion is rising. The bounty hunter and two Jedi leave, everyone leaving, deciding to join the stranger. However, one of the prisoner clones goes to leave but is stopped by the stranger who takes off his helmet to reveal Kix. Barris wants to leave, but knows she has nowhere to go without a ship and hopes Kix has one she can steal.
The group heads out towards what Kix says is a ship waiting for them, but they run into a full squad of troopers who shoot down the unnamed clone, civillains, and Jedi(who sacrifices herself to get everyone to safety). Kix leads Barris and Dogma to the ship and Barris prepares to take the ship for herself. She uses the force to choke Kix, resulting in Dogma fighting her until she crushes one of his legs in defense. She then runs up to the ship where she is met by a woman who stuns her just enough that she can’t move.
Padme then tells Barris about the rebellion and that they are doing what she would have done back then. Fight what she believed was unjust and corrupt. Barris agrees and decides to join, but refuses to meet anyone from her past face to face. Padme suggests she become a Fulcrum.
Barris ends up getting into the communication channels, giving information on future plans of the empire and giving the locations of Jedi and clones. She goes by Fulcrum and isn't revealed to be Barris for a good while.
Ahsoka is the one to sense that it's Barris and ends up seeking her old friend out. Barris agrees to meet her and tells Ahsoka that she left the Jedi who were corrupt, but never wanted 'this' to happen. She is also saddened by her mentor's death, as well as clones who served with her.
