I've recently started playin' in a game of Dungeons and Dragons on campus -- I've played plenty in my days, but it's nice to have a local group. Anyways, I decided to paint myself as my character, a Paladin of Ilmater, but got lazy an' decided not to add armor, haw. In the end, it's just a beefier version of me with a sword and shield, standin' on a rock. Yup, a rock. I know, I gotta work on backgrounds, haw.I guess technically this should be a human, but it's only because Earth Pony wasn't in the Players' Handbook fer some reason. Go figure.
I dunno if I like the colors in this piece very much. Also, I think I need to rework how I paint pony heads -- dunno if I like this that much. On the plus side, I do like the hair. Glee.

Dayside! Welcome back! Looks like you are still as skilled as ever. Nice epic piece of yourself right here. I've always wondered how ponies could use weapons and it looks like you came up with a creative solution to it. heh.

Buahah, note that I'm nowhere near as epic as this may seem. It was gonna be a lot more obviously-fantasy-dungeons-and-dragons looking, but I got lazy. Now it just seems egotistical, haw.
An' it's only as practical fer as long as ponies can stand on their hind legs, hah.

Still lovin the way you do your lighting. especially that reflective shield. Do ponies have knee caps? ... funny i pondered that before "Can ponies stand up?"

Buahah, I fudged the shield. I needa go study some metal, I dunno how it works, hah. I do like how it turned out though!
An' I figure they have somethin' similar to kneecaps, maybe not. But I like my ponies to be able to either go quadruped or biped. Kinda like the show, though if they ever stand on their hind legs it's not fer very long I guess.

Haha! Now I can proceed to not awkwardly comment on this as we not anywhere near being in the same room. Truth be told I've been waiting for this to come up and it did not disappoint. I really like the hair too (shocker I know) but not just because it's awesome, but also cause it really resembles you, and honestly this is the most you looking version of Dayside I have seen. I like the thread braces too, the ribbon is very nice. And what a glorious rock. All and all I think this is really great, although I agree with you on the head. And it's missing your righteous aura or whatever that thing is. Can't wait to see more paintings from you this break!!

Haw, I think I've lost the fundamental shape of ponyheads somewhere. Needa work more from the show again sometime. An' yeah, the ribbons'll be part of Jaron's actual character, I like 'em. They're sorta his rendition of the symbol of Ilmater, which is two crossed hands bound by a red cord. An' I didn't wanna put the auras an' divinities 'n' stuff on him unless I got him decked out in armor, but adding armor just made it cluttered -- I didn't plan out for it.

Mmm well if you are planning on drawing from the show anytime soon count me in! I think I have lost most of my pony anatomy in general. I like that the ribbons have symbolic meaning...although red ribbons always make me think of the red cord of fate, which binds star crossed lovers. Ilmater is the god of sacrifice right? I don't think it has to do with star crossed lovers then...anyway I'm nearly done with my portrait...restarted it a few times -- but it is finally going in a direction I like. So I should hopefully finish it tonight!

Nice! An' coo'. I'm gonna do my actual Jaron portrait next, methinks, so, yay. Yeah, sacrifice, hope, and freedom are his domains -- the way I see it, the the red cords are supposed to represent blood, like, bleeding from your own wrists to help those around you. Given my interpretation, Jaron's holy symbol is gonna be a set of ribbons or cords that he wears around his wrists. I'm excited to get more into developing the little details of his character, haw. Can't wait ta see yers.

Oooh that sounds really cool. I don't know why but I really like that whole idea lol. I need to develop my character more. And the portrait is giving me tons of trouble. But I am slowly unraveling it. Fixed a lot of perspective issues and proportions. Right now it's going through that thing where something looks weird but I can't figure out what exactly. I can tell it's heading in the right direction and looks loads better than it did before. But still irksome haha but that's the way it goes.
