Nope...I used a fairly worn down filbert brush. #2 I believe it was.
Lots of paint squirted out straight onto the canvas, an even misting of water from a spray bottle, and maybe 15 drops of acrylic flow release medium. The trick is to not mix the colors so much that the brush strokes are lost, but enough to create depth w/ gradations.
Thx for commenting.

Hi
I think this is a great painting in many ways. I am a art student at a swedish university. I would like to ask some question about your art. If that is something you would like to do, get back to me.

Eruption of Pompeii..
Course everything of yours reminds me of something else. Its very beautiful. I would comment more but I am feeling horribly melodramatic today. Probably not the best time to finally sit and comment.

Painting to let go of thought is always a good idea - at least for me. There is a beautiful flow about this piece.

Thankyou...and I agree, they lend themselves very readily to any mood and when undertaken with a genuine desire to express one's Self they are very rich visual metaphors.

I like the way the bands of colour seem to generate ambiguous space, so that the image can seen in a number of different ways, as referencing sea or sky of land.
Brilliant composition

Thankyou much for looking and commenting- my apologies for the delayed response, as I always greatly appreciate your comments and insight. The generated space you mention is definitely my favorite aspect of this piece as I was nearly taken aback when, after letting it dry for a couple days, I returned to look at it and saw it as the image it has become instead of the fairly flat and abstract "bands of color" I remembered laying down when I painted it.

You're welcome.
It's interesting to hear from other artists how their work evolves. Words, for me,often have similarly unexpected properties.
