"Little Shack" is a small contemporary landscape oil painting of a rustic barn-like shack set in a field of dead grass. The narrow pathway leading up to its door-less entrance is weathered and overgrown, emphasizing the notion of abandonment, and the barn itself is a distressed/chic robin's egg blue, giving the structure that charming glow, despite being in disrepair.

The colour palette I used is rich and clear. The blank sky, clean from any clouds, stretches out into the distance in a relaxed calmness, contrasting the vibrant autumn grass. The tall, thin cedars are silent, and calm, like patient guardians watching over the ancient farm.

I put the paint on thick. Really thick. Using top of the line oils, this piece cost me a small fortune to create--but it was worth it. I'm really happy with the way it turned out, and I plan on doing many more like this one in the near future.
