For the longest time we had always considered ladies to be the caretakers to those barbarians who went out fighting for glory, riches or even simply adventure. It’s perhaps only recently that we saw ladies beginning to prove that they could fight just as well as their male counterparts, and judging by the stoic, focused expression on this model’s face, there’s no doubt she should not be underestimated.
The level of detail you were able to garner from the original model’s face essentially make them twins, so solid is the work, and there looks to be added twists of a face scarred by battle. They’re not easily seen, and yet they are there. The smudges, streaks and brushes used to create the war paint, armour and messy hair all combine to form a quality portrait taken altogether.
And of course, her proportions and the way the body was drawn can’t be ignored either.
As a viewer, one could stare deep into her eyes and wonder what happens beyond them. She looks so focused and emotionless, but underneath it all, has she fought to keep those emotions locked away, or does she give in from time to time? A great piece of work, and I can only ask that you keep this level of effort up.
