Description ___________________

I made this for Finding Calais' instagram  account . A fun side-scroller featuring a slightly monumental but otherwise typical community in peripheral Middle Calais, as the terrain begins to broaden and dry (it never qualifies as arid in the periphery, of course (it's only two to three dozen kilometres out!), but lacking the heavy fog and steam that so regularly inundates fissures nearer to Primi Calla, moisture is harder to come by.) Notable features of this particular estate are its two civic pipe organs, both of them offering elementary defensive infrasound capabilities. They were the work of two very different schools of Calaisii design - Rowe Fleury (of Woodland Oegel notoriety) and Gordon Baerich (whom I introduce with this piece, and whose enamoured August Baerich was resident to this very instrument).

Other notable introductions to the world of Finding Calais (which I might not have touched on as clearly in any previous piece) include the 'pleasure pier' language of iron struts holding colourful buildings over water, the 'mushroom carousel' point defence tower, the town monorail, and the form language of the chute-packed waterpark. I plan for chute waterways to be pretty prominent in parts of Calais, not as an amusement park gimmick but as a legitimate means of travel.

OOC: Hello everyone, please excuse my sudden flurry of posts! I apologise for not keeping up to date with posting on DA, and will do a better job of it from this point on. DA has been the place that saw me 'grow up' as an artist. Thank you, everyone, for joining me on this journey.

~~ Finding Calais is a steampunk, belle époque fantasy. It is full of airships, wonder, and whimsy. I'll be picking at it for as long as I'm able to work (the goal's for it to sustain itself), so do follow the project if you connect with what you see. Thank you for viewing!

Thank you, am happy you relate to it! I guess it is because this world has been slowly growing in my head for half my life I'm glad to be able to express it in a way words may not allow.

I am so happy and honoured that my world has earned some similarity to the places you see in your dreams   It is beautiful to know that people around you may have the same cherished, shared ideas. Perhaps one day, wider society will be inspired by them, and they may become closer to reality than we now think is possible!   Thank for your comment.
