PARSONS CHALLENGE: In the second of the three pieces, I started with a non-literal background to show a more conceptual idea of space. The heavy line work and abstract shapes represent what the art room means to me this year; it is a place of thought, and conception. Things in the room aren't seen as mere objects, but rather as means of inspiration. The background flows into the figure to illustrate the idea of me being affected by my surroundings. The white easel leaves a negative space, which not only creates depth in the piece, but also suggests a sort of mystery or problem that has yet to be solved.
