There's a lot of nice elements to this work. Hope you will forgive my pointing out a rather obvious flaw. It appears to me you have cut the composition in half horizontally with the buildings all in the top half and the street in the lower half. I feel that if the horizon line were lower on the canvas the composition would be greatly improved.

I am considering adding some fore front elements. Probably a winter cyclist over dressed and going on the wrong side of the traffic and leaving a trail in the snow, as well as a few parked cars. I initially thought that the reflection on the street could occupy the space, but I'd lie if I'd say its not bothering me at this point. There is a work in progress to it.

when I posted it, I viewed as a finished piece. I can't think of anything I ever did that I did not want to retouch at one some point. This time, it did happen sooner than I anticipated. But I still am going through a few other pieces before I sit down with it..

I added a cyclist going against traffic side (obvious to those knowing Ontario east boulevard) and thought about a car going in the right direction. I figured that a car would have made it too busy for what I care

Qu'est-ce que c'est que ce galimatias? ! Vous faites une description technique de votre travail avec un vocabulaire français précis , déterminé, et même recherché ( des mots comme "distorsion" ou "terreuse" ne se trouvent pas sous la plume du premier venu!), puis tout à coup, vous versez dans un infâme verbiage: "Canayen franssâs"?? C'est quoi, ça? C'est de l'humour canadien? C'est " pour le fun"? D'accord, je n'ai pas le sens de l'humour....
Si vous ne connaissez ni Vlaminck ni d Derain c'est que vous êtes jeune... Ces peintres de l'époque "Fauve" ont été mondialement connus, à une époque où il n' y avait aucun média pour vous propulser dans l' art international..... Je ne veux pas insinuer que vous "copiez" Vlaminck , mais dire que vous m'évoquez Vlaminck est plutôt un compliment! ( Faites un petit tour sur Wikipedia? )
Autre chose: quel instrument figure la petite photo de votre " carte de visite" ? Je suis flûtiste - baroque alto.

En fait et c'est un de mes défaut en art, je suis un très mauvais historien du médium que je pratique. Je ne révélerai pas mon âge, mais disons que ça a commencé par un hobby une fois mes études terminées et une fois installé dans mon condo. Par quel faux pli du destin je me suis mis à y croire et à vendre, c'est une toute autre histoire, mais je ne suis pas passé par le cheminement classique. Bref, je connais très mal les fauvistes. Ceci étant admis, j'avais compris très rapidement qu'il s'agissait d'un compliment, aucune crainte, et j'aurais sans doute du le souligner..
La carte de visite fait parti d'une série de musicien jazz de ma collection 2012 (un style que je pourrais revisiter, mais à revoir et à corriger version 2014 à tout le moins). EN l'occurrence, il s'agit d'un clarinettiste, encore que le degré d'abstraction permet d'imaginer toutes sortes d'instruments.

Une touche de Vlaminck ( Derain?) dans le mépris des lois de l'équilibre, la hardiesse des couleurs, le flou de l'ensemble. Séduisant!

En fait, je ne connaissais ni Vlaminck, ni Derain. Il y a eu en effet un effort pour accentuer les distorsions.
Pour ce qui est des couleurs, j'ai travaillé par superposition de couches, en commençant par un premier jet en couleurs terreuses uniquement et en rajoutant graduellement des couleurs plus saturées.

Over the last few local sceneries, I have been taking panorama pictures for my references to work with. More work for my sluggish mac air, but very worth it. My 25mm Panasonic Leica has been reliable for that task(*) and it gives a different perspective than what I'm used to work with.
On that one, I kinda missed the linear perspective, but decided to accentuate my mistakes boldly and to glorify them with light poles and trees being coherently incoherent. One of those cases where at some point I lost control over my idea, but stuck with what I then saw..
(*)on a side note, I tried to do panoramas with the super zoom kit lens and it turned into a catastrophy on every attempt. It shows that lens quality is not a joke..
