Description Dreaming of suburb by the highway at dusk

Oil on heavily recycled canvas, as in patched up.
Thick layers using butter medium galore, spread with palette knives. yay. Where's my land mower tractor now?

Yup, this looks familiar, I've seen this off the Interstate a few times!Β  Nice work.

Strong painting, conveys a bleak existence, prison

"prison" might be a far fetched lecture, but in the world of arts, one has to be prepared for extremely creative interpretation.
Besides, your eyes are as good as mine!

For whatever its worth, I saw in there the accomplished yet perverted platonician intellibible form of individualism : I have my little house, my little world, my car, my dog and my landmower, just like everyone else should. Neighbor is someone else, I may or may not ever talk to. He has a bigger landmower and two cars. I need to take the car for everything. Highway is noisy, but at least conveniently near...

well.. bleak prison might not be too far off after all!

Great work! I used to live in a suburb not until long ago and it gave me the same feeling as your painting, one of imprisonment, sort of a concentration camp.

it transports a very strong uncompfortable feeling. like the air is so thick you can cut it with a knife, the clouds are pressing and there is hardly any space to breathe. every house looks the same grey way.

Thank you!

I did put considerable effort in making it look uglier than in real life. I don't know if there are such abominations in Γ–sterich: sub-urban development along side an Autobahn. I see those all the time here. Pretty generic all the same-looking houses, built in a very dreadful place.

those "Autobahn sub-urbs" are most of the time ugly grey industrial buildings or big grey squared houses. i've been to the USA once and there i saw some suburban areas... i was so confused because it looked all the same. it was like a nightmare going home from the shop because it was not easy to orientate yourself through the streets.

Somehow, my mental image of USA have not been that polluted yet. Rural Vermont is as beautiful as it gets. Boston is a must see destination. Road between Greenbay and Milwaukee ...I was too washed out after that Green Bay vs Vikings game to remember...

But if it exists here, north of the borders...

i left it out in the rain cuz the pulley broke and i was gonna fix it but i got drunk and forgot about it and then like a month later i found it in the tall grass and .. oh man, im really sorry about your land mower tractor...

and thats a true story about what i said to my landlord when he found out we had trashed the lawn mower that came with the house we were renting.
