Jack Mason was born in San Francisco, but grew up in Los Angeles with his father, Charles. Charles was ex-military, and a mean son of a bitch who tried to turn his son into a weapon. When Jack wasn’t in school, he would be working out in the local gym, studying various topics in the local library, or developing his martial arts skills in his backyard. By the age of 14, Jack could speak 4 languages and had already skipped 2 grade levels due to his prodigy-level intellect.

Around the time he entered high school, Jack had reconnected with his mother, as well as his twin brother, John, and his half-sisters, Lyla and Zoe. It was also in high school that he met Jill Taylor. The two fell in love, and were married by the time they finished college. But shortly after they were married, Jack was summoned by Charles to travel the world with him.

It was Charles who introduced Jack to a shadowy organization of assassins known as “The Elite.” Jack trained even further, but after taking his first life, he realized the way of the assassin wasn’t for him. After fighting his way out the Elite’s headquarters and nearly crippling Charles in a rather brutal one-on-one fight, he returned to the United States, and the night he reunited with Jill, a child was conceived.

Nine months later, Jane Mason was born. When Jane was around 10 years old, tragedy struck when a mugger took Jill from her family. From that day forward, Jack became overprotective of Jane, to the point that she was barely able to have a social life. However, everything changed when Jane was shot by a gang leader and ended up in a coma.

After doing some digging, Jack found out the gang leader who put his little girl in the hospital was Sam Higgins, an enforcer for the elusive Madame Boss, the criminal queenpin of Los Angeles. Jack knew that he had to be smart about this, or else more people would get hurt. So, taking inspiration from the Victorian gentleman aesthetic he loved so much, he became the man who would usher in a new age of heroes: The Gentleman.

So this is the start of a new series that I’m creating, which shall henceforth be known as “The Matrix Superhero Universe.”

The Gentleman is supposed to be somewhat of a Batman-esque hero, a man with no powers except for an insane level of martial arts training, motivated to wage war on the criminal underworld out of revenge for his family.

The inspiration for using a Victorian gentleman aesthetic to create a superhero came from a book that I got on how to be a gentleman, which is how I learned that Victorian gentlemen actually had their own fighting style: bartitsu. It’s a mixture of boxing, savate, and cane fighting. Look it up. Also, for those of you wondering, “duratanium” is a fictional metal that I’ve created for my universe.

Also, I’m a novice in terms of art, so any and all constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated.
