I cannot imagine actually seeing a sky this color...well, i can imagine being on another planet. i did not know this planet's sky could produce this color.

Green Aurora is VERY common it is the most common, I am hoping for a few more Aurora shows and hopefully with them some nice red hues.

Thanks and yes, looking like another nice show tonight, its been a long time since i've had regular chances to shoot them, in fact last time was nearly a decade ago and film ruled the skies

Most of my shots have the data shown, you can find it on the lower right side.

In this case I was shooting a D90 with the 18-55mm kit lens, 20 second exposure at F3.5 and ISO 800.

Thank you for your comments

no reason to be sorry. And some people scrub it before posting I try not to, I find it helpful to see what other people do so I leave my data up there

ENjoy.

Killer, dude. I was out in it too but my whole series is just a touch out of focus, otherwise...Going to try again tonight. Supposed to be an encore

yup I'm watching to see if I need to make a midnight run. It's windy as sin here, it was last night too, heck has been for weeks but on a hunch I went to a local spot and it was almost dead still YAY!!!!.

Focus is a big pain for night stuff, I tend to look for the brightest star, and AF if I can. If I can't I use live view and zoom it in, then lock it when I get it.

Good luck i'll be watching to see what you get

Yeah, I usually use some far off light for focusing- christmas lights, the moon if there is one, distant houses. This particular lens doesn't have a lock, but the rubber tile spacers and duct tape worked nicely. I got it all pre-focused in the daylight so there would be NO struggle in the dark.

Ok, getting set before dark is near madness THAT is dedication .

AND I'm going to try to use the fish eye. I cut a tile spacer in half and hopefully remedied my issue with the falling out of focus BS. It's staying PUT.

yeah that would be frustrating as all get out. Wandering focus is gah... frustrating is the mild word .

I'm excited to see what you get with the fisheye.
