Description

" we call her for dinner, she makes up a reason
She looks at her arms and she rolls down her sleeves
Maybe we're starting to see through her lies
Cause last night (finally)  . we had tears in our eyes "

 do you know why ?

this is my little preview of what's inside of my unlivable universe .

'Thousand paper cranes
Thousand fragile promises,
patiently folded.'

I get mixed feelings when I see a thousand cranes. On the one hand, they're a beautiful, powerful symbol of hope; on the other, they're a futile pastime that doesn't really achieve anything. I guess I'm caught directly between naivety and cynicism :/

I guess if they are made with a purposed ,
and achievement , even if it's a silly one ,
i can understand that . Or respect .
it does looks naive and sounds cynic at the same time .

I agree. I suppose I was seeing the cranes in relation to faith; I don't really believe that folding all those cranes will grant a wish. But when I look at the cranes themselves as an achievement, then is means something more than just folded paper. I suppose it is a matter of context.

What really matters is that something beautiful was created. That in itself is a worthwhile wish

no, my Dear, this is all true what You say
but You are not between Naivety and Cynicism
Hope doesn't know the meaning of these two words
and instead of closing Us in a Dark room of helplessness and dispair,
Hope fills our life with warmth and light
'a new font of light'

I fold cranes myself
and I'm near 1000 already.
i know the story behind these paper creatures
I don't think about why I am doing this,
in terms of logic this has NO sense anyway.
For me this is a Trial.
How much determined am I to fulfill my aim, dream, wish?
My cranes tell me that I am a lot
and even if someday they will become a symbol of past time
and achieving nothing at all,
I will be the one who can say: 'I tried and did the best I could'

In life You can't have everything You wish
But if you don't give up and fight for yourself and your dreams
you are much more likely to succeed than the ones who never even try

I must have written that comment in a particularly cynical mood.

I suppose I was seeing the cranes as a receptacle of faith; I don't believe folding cranes will grant a wish, or really change anything; all it does is create a thousand cranes out of a thousand flat pieces of paper. But then, that can be a goal in itself. I guess I tried to see too much expectation into it.
It's funny, numerous times in my life, people who have inspired me - family, teachers, mentors - have taught and re-taught me how to fold cranes, but I always forget the method. Even after Googling it multiple times, I still can't fold them from memory. That's the thing about hope - sometimes we need to be reminded of it

(I do have a small collection of cranes I've folded - and a jar of paper stars I've been steadily filling since I was a child.)
