/edit z so i decided to stick with the original legsz with the addition of a dew claw half way up the leg - im happy with this and wont likely change it again - since Dessut is important i updated this ref-----------
Been playing around with Thrish legs lately and i have to say i like the result- sort of going back to their roots on how i originally \"tried\" to draw them, though at the time, i just really sucked at it and opted for human legs instead (which i wasnt much better at)
Not sure if this will be a permanat thing i apply to all rumians- but its defiantly something im considering. Bird like legs was always something i wanted to try with them.
anyway, heres Dessut- i know you guys havnt seen him in a long time- so he was really do for a ref thats for sure.
major changes are really just his hair color, LEGS, tail, ears, and well, his last name haha.
this is a rather lazy, speed paint ref- maybe ill do a better one. some day...
(or not since- refs really arnt that important to me anyway hahahuf)

Aw, Dessutttttt. Almost didn't recognize him without the usual shit-eating grin, HA HA. I dig the update to his color scheme.
And dang, those legs are as precious as all hell, they go really well with the rest of the Rumian design! Though I might be biased, I usually like bird-like legs on characters. (I'm always too lazy too deal with them on my own characters, though, heh.)

AH yes i know he was just, due for a big change- since i havnt enjoyed drawing him at all lately and i really just want to eliminate the thin tails from rumians all together and kind of uniform them to either have shot ones like this, or the long thick ones.
And gosh i kno rite the legs- but recently ive been finding the other kind of legs more annoying to draw, so i was like ok, ive got more skills now- iets try returning to how i used to draw their legs, but making them more birdish like i awlays tried to do (and failed because, bird legs back then alluded me)
im really satisfied with his new design and im currently redesigning everyone else. So you can expect to see refs for like, Ripur, Tank, Junder, Jo, Gemma, Kimburlee, Kasey- THE WHOLE GANG of neglected characters!

Ah hah, well the changes are good! I'll admit I'm sad to hear that you're getting rid of the Avrills (and the Robus?), they had such a neat variety of head shapes. But I understand wanting to move in a different direction, especially considering how old this species is. So all Rumians have feathers now, then? AH I'm interested in how Tankian (is it just Tank, now?) is going to look. And everyone, really, HA HA. . .

I like the new design, idk why but I just do. I love this tail a lot! I've always imagined with the long, thin tails, they'd have everyone stepping on them by accident! XD It'd be very annoying and painful.
So are these bird-like legs going to become standard? 0r will there be some varity? (Did I spell that right? -_-)

If i do decided to keep these the will be universal throughout the species-
and oh its pronounced like "monty-cellie" though the Y wouldnt be so drug out, its really short.

yea sometimes updates are slow from me, specially since i picked up a load of commissions on fa and was sort of knocking those out over a coarse of a few weeks. Now im trying to relax just a bit and maybe do some of my own work as a break- then its back to the grind

and as for the changes i felt like being stuck in that style was really holding me back. I wasn't trying anything new and i really didnt like how i was drawing my species- i had a mishap happen too that made me want to really just change them completely and make them better-
i can say that i have enjoyed drawing them more now then i ever did- like, slowly the designs are becoming more uniform and the way i envision-
what about my old style did yo like though-? i cant say im painting too differently (other then the fact that a year ago i was in a lazy stage and was doing only flats- previous to that though i painted in the same manor as i do now)

Ah, I understand that then, wanting to shift into a style more suited to your liking. Good to know that their designs are starting to look final to you! What mishap though? Were there other species other people made that looked like them? :c

Ah yes there was an incident where someone was drawing something similar- at first i had confronted them a long time ago, but then after a year or so left it alone and didnt think about it anymore- But then i had some people starting to come to be about it, some of my fans and watchers pointing out to me that their species looked very similar. Once again i just told the people it was fine and i didnt care (in private tho) well that person eventually saw them saying that- then decided they wanted to actually acuse me of stealing from them LOL. which was laughable of coarse- specially since i had been drawing my species some 3 years before they began drawing theirs- it still hurt a lot though, specially since they threw some big public fit about it that really got them no where but to make everyone else aware that they wer acusing me of stealing, when 90% of the people backed me and said they were acting inappropriately. It was just all silly and uncalled for- specially since at that point i could care less that they were drawing a species similar to mine. The person goes by the name of *Lingrimm i believe- and im glad to see they started to take their species in a direction away from mine- as well as i have accelerated that by making some changes of my own thats helped me feel better about the situation of having someone who was drawing a species very similar to mine. Its like, even if my idea came first- i still felt like its original appretiate was sort of lacking now- so i decided to make them better or more appealing to me then my old species, as well as theirs. It just sort of helped a lot and ive moved beyond it completely now.
and hmmmm id like to think i actually still paint like this, the only difference is lately i have not bene using those sharp colors- but then again, everyone draws like that. Ive kind of reverted back to my pastel style- which im trying to develop a bit more. Though bright colors arnt out of the question- ill be using them again, just probably not as intensely as here- since its doesnt feel that original stylishly to me.
