Description >Edit: For size reference, the body (from the top to the bottom of its feet) is half an inch long. That fits on my thumbnail, people.

Edit Edit: Submitting to [link] ; hope it'll place.

This is the smallest thing I have ever made.

A Mew... carved from the lead of a Prismacolor pencil.

I'm crazy or stupid or both.

But it came out okay. I think.

holy flyig space balls.......
THAT IS SO AWESOME!!!
I used to do stuff like that all the time!
though I did it with bigger things like chalk and crayons
I mean I can do those super small details and all but-
if I cant fix it like clay or glue is together unnoticably it WILL be broken
But im just so happy to see some one else who does stuff like this! (and is really good at it!)

I am absolutely floored by this. When I found out it was a Prisma I was even more amazed because even with excellent sharpeners and techniques I have learned I cannot often sharpen them without breaking the lead. I have no idea how you managed this. It is really cute, I love the wiggly, wavy tail. The details are excellent and gosh the size!! How on earth do you plan to preserve this so it does not break? Well done!

k-times-two In reply to AriaFawn [2011-12-15 00:43:47 +0000 UTC]

... Wellp, I covered it in crazyglue, but I've already lost a part of the tail. I got a good picture, though, and that's enough to keep me happy. If worse comes to worse, I might be able to carve another.

I actually rather enjoy the consistency of Prismacolor for pencil carving. They're soft enough that you don't have to use too much pressure for detail-y things, which, if utilized correctly, helps prevent breakage. Brittle things are harder to work with, not responding well to pressure.

AriaFawn In reply to k-times-two [2011-12-15 07:13:08 +0000 UTC]

Aww what a shame...but if it motivates you to carve another that is always good too! And good to know about Prismas for carving, maybe if I ever dare try this I will use one of my Prismas.

Generally-- and I have trouble following this mostly-- I have to carve from the top down, or it does snap. Far to easily. It gets annoying, so I'm getting better at carving top-down. >w> Thank you~
