Description Yay!! Easily the most beautiful thing I've ever created, I think. I'm not 100% proud of it, but we'll see what the teachers say when they review it next week. (Unfortunately, this means that all my future work is going to have to outdo this one. And my teachers will know I know it. >.< ) The mountains are a much faded version of the way our beloved mountains get in those 15 minutes of sunset.. gorgeous.. Maybe I'll post a photo of them someday.

Part of my BFA senior project, cover redesign for the book Oath of Gold, last in the Deed of Paksenarrion trilogy, by Elizabeth Moon. Acrylic, 9x13.5"

WOW! Holy cow! That's very awesome! I love seeing women in armor, it shows we're tough too! (And we don't have to go into battle wearing a swimsuit. )

I like how you made the armor femine, it just adds that extra touch. The balancing on the sword looks wonderful.

And yes, UT mountains are some of the most beautiful around.

And was it colored pencils/oil/or water color that you used?

I used acrylics on this one. And yeah, the armor! I must admit, though, I love the cover Keith Parkinson did for the 3-in-1 book (many years ago), with her on her horse and the wolf-thing attacking.. (Okay, I don't like the wolf.. but I love the way he did the rest of it.)

Don't forget to read the Gird books, too! And the other day, Elizabeth Moon posted in her LiveJournal that she's writing a new fantasy in that world. I'm super excited.

Bout time good ol' Paks got herself in a picture That's the best fantasy ever outside of Tolkien I think. That, and E. Moon is a Marine >> I might just be biased.

I had to comment on such a lovely piece. There are SO many things I love about this. I love the strength of the pose. The whole picture is just . . so strong while the colors convey a certain softness. The mountains are so beautiful. I think you've captured the time of day just right. Just before the sunset. . . kinda sets a bit of symbol for the picture, maybe? The details of the chain mail. . .wow. Just simply and plainly put. . . wow.

I had to fav it! I had to. I couldn't help it.

I know you used to dislike doing backgrounds, but like Noblae said, "I wish I could draw backgrounds like that." It does look like the watsach front!

I loved the first draft you showed, and now I'm conflicted. How can I possibly be loving it more? Shading? Awesome.
