Description
I’ve had stolen: my space
And been punched in the gut
I’ve been struck across the face
And gained more than one cut

I’ve walked into walls
And fallen down stairs
I’ve made many desperate calls
And no one ever cares

Things happened, and yet...
I barely cared
Only slightly upset
And somewhat scared

Until now
An expected shock
This incident, I didn’t allow
But was an event I couldn’t block

The bad and good in life
Should cancel out, right?
Well, I still ended with strife
The latter’s as dark as night

I waited for the turnabout
The glimpse of happiness
Tried to give depression a timeout
Yet such a feeling is ageless

The wait was so slow
A climax between two words
‘Yes’ or ‘No’
The tears came in herds

I need that gentle freedom
Provided by life’s wings
Why did this have to happen?
Of all things...
