Kitfuchs 3 KAI is an EOD reconnaissance vehicle based on SPW Kitfuchs 3. It is equipped with a 12m long manipulator arm with max. load capacity of 400kg. In addition, it is equipped with set of cameras that are used for searching of IEDs or mines. This allows vehicle and crew to examine suspicious locations from a distance from the Kitfuchs 3 KAI, precisely detect and identify explosive devices and booby traps. Manipulator arm itself is equipped with special cameras and pneumatic soil excavator system with a working pressure of 400 bar and a lifting "fork" for detected explosives. It can also be equipped with a special ground penetrating radar, an smaller version of that mounted on PiRo Basalt RCDV EOD UGV. This allows the EOD team to uncover an object that cannot be clearly identified. The marking of found object can be done both digitally in the system using a GPS coordinates and with an optical marking device for the dismounted specialist. Vehicle also is equipped with special cargo bins on the sides that are used for transporting additional tools, while spacious interior usually carries 3-men EOD team and their equipment. In addition, Kitfuchs 3 KAI is usually equipped with CG20+ jammer used to disrupt radio waves in order to prevent remote detonation of nearby IEDs.
