Everyone of you know the type . . . they find out you ship couples other than the canon ones and then they go all batshit crazy on you.Then you have to deal with long postsβthat you could care less aboutβtrying to make you see the error of your ways, and then you wish they would just kill you to get you out of reading their spin. Why don't you just Ahkmed me and get it over with? At least I would get a laugh over the experience instead of a headache.

Oh trust me, they are the worst when it comes to this sorta thing. None of the pairings are even canon, yet tons of them bitch and moan at people who don't ship them. SonAmy is the most popular pairing, but Tailsmo, Chaream, Shadria, Knuckles xΒ JulieSuΒ and KnuxCosmo are all worshipped by the fandom despite none of them being canon. There's no real romance in the series anyway, so why they whine about it is beyond me.

The worst in my experience is a toss up between Bleach and Avatar fandoms. Although the Naruto fandom brings a very close 3rd.

Sadly, the Naruto fandom has worsened since you posted this. There are some NaruHina and SasuSaku Β fans that been harassing people who don't ship either pairing or who didn't care for the ending. I myself don't care for the ending or NaruHina or SasSaku, but I respect those who do. I don't like the insane SasuNaru or NaruSaku fans either, but this is getting ridiculous.Β

The Naruto fandom has straight up lost it.
There is no side to the Naruto fandom that hasn't made an super ass of itself. For example, SasuNaru and NaruSaku fans harassing Kishi's assistant on social media and them flooding porn pics on the thank you page for Kishi.

Wow...that's just fucking nuts. Β I swear these people are getting more ridiculous, good thing I'm not part of the fandom (never really was anyway but still). The sad thing is, I've seen a lot of neutral Naruto fans getting shat on left and right, and a lot of the ones who aren't shippers at all harass the sane shippers regardless of which pairs they like. I have a bad feeling the same shit will go down if SEGA does the same thing with Sonic and make any of the ships canon in the games, especially because of the infamous "Matchmaker;Who Do You Ship?" poster Archie made for one of the comic covers and because of the fact that Amy's not obsessed with Sonic in Boom or some of the newer comics(she still has a crush on him, but it's small). What makes me laugh the most is how people attack Disney and Shoujo manga in general because of the romance, yet they demand that the creators of non-romantic works shoehorn it in. Seriously, the worst shippers I've seen were the ones for action-packed series or comedies. Not even super casual or super silly shows like SpongeBob,CatDog, or Happy Tree Friends are safe from this crap. Shit, even fandoms for dating sims, Yaoi/Yuri, or hentai series aren't this nuts.

I was in the fandom of Naruto but I'm not finding a place for myself in it anymore. I like the canon pairings but I didn't much like part 2 and the way it made a Mary Sue out of Naruto but I'm finding myself content with the end despite its missteps. It was a fun ride. Ugh, the drama that bogged down the fandom in Naruto's story is being unfairly dropped on his son and his story. It's like the fandom can't just let it go and enjoy the little glimpse into the future w/o bitching about the past.Β
And you are totally RIGHT about teh peeps who bash disney, shoujo, and may I add romance in general but these same peeps go psycho over the lack of romance in action manga and use that as in excuse to bash the ships in action manga/series they don't like.

Granted, if some of the people you've described (and that I've sometimes dealt with over the years) could just make the death threat that's bubbling beneath the surface, it'd be more interesting and less tedious than the point-by-point, multi-page essay with citations and footnotes regarding why a fic/art should not exist.

Oh geez, i knew that type alright. There was this girl who latched herself onto one of my friends like an amoeba, and everytime I wrote a fanfiction(they were usually KagSess), for some reason, she thought she was an amazing critic and had to look over each and every one. She would then proceed to whine and bitch over the pairing, raving that it wasn't canon, so my story was automatically crap that wasn't worth a second look.
I was like Ex-CUSE me? You're not the one writing the damn story and no one's forcing you to read it, so why do you even care?

Those type of people boggle my mind. Why read the story in the first place, if you don't like the couple that it is about? Use your power of choice and click the home button on your browser.

My motivation behind this was, anti's would get more emotion from me if they made a Achmed death threat as opposed to trying to convince me of my errors in judgment with very long post. At least the threat would be highly entertaining.
I mean, if they creators didn't convince me to ship a certain ship within the story . . fangirl/boy number one isn't going to be able to do it either.
