So I'm finally getting around to reading this and I am already in love with your sense of humor oh my gosh XD I love how you worked naming the rival in there, and the last panel is hilarious with Red getting pushed into the spotlight

Never too late! I'm glad you like my Oak, and I hope you enjoy reading the rest!

WHOA I love Red's hair! Especially in the first panel!
Also, it's hilarious how Red tries to stay out of the spotlight. Does Oak just have them ready at the flick of a switch to ambush new trainers?

OHOHOH, THAT'S WHAT YOU GET FOR CALLING HIM BUTTS! XD
At least, I had the decency to call my rival something decent in Let's Go Pikachu
(My trainer name is Ezra, My rival is Dooku, and my Pikachu is Kazuda. Can you find any common theme in this?)

I LOVE that you skipped the backtracking trip to Viridian and I LOVE the way you used Oak's name question. This is great

I love the way i skipped the backtracking, too. Backtracking suuuucks, both to draw/write and to read.
I'm glad you like the comic so far! I've read through all your comments and left them up in my notifications for over a week just to keep seeing them (and from laziness)

There are a lot of stupid names given for stupid reasons in this comic, it's great.

aaaa this run is so cute so far and these characters are already full of so much personality? I love this goofy grandpa oak so much, what a dork

I'm glad you like it so far! And really, isn't goofy grandpa the best flavor of grandpa? Much preferable to creep or senile, in my humble opinion.

This is pure love???
In less than a day I found 2 instant faves and oooohhhhmmyyyygoddd this is the best Oak I've read. He's still a child and so pure. So precious.
AND GARY!! (Well, Butts...) Best douchekid version I've seen. Though I don't read many comics, but still, he's the most true to his self while still having something new. I really appreciate that.

You're welcome! Nobody should have to sit through the backtracking back and forth over route 1 three times. Never again.

There are plenty of versions of the game's first few minutes, but I'd say this one stands out fairly well! Will your Pokemon be silent companions, or will they talk like in most nuzlockes?
π: 0 β©: 1
Kadew-C In reply to BummerForShort [2016-01-02 19:54:11 +0000 UTC]
Thank you, Bummer! I'm planning to have the pokemon be mostly silent for this. Talking companions is fun and adds a lot of character, but also can get a bit corny when done poorly, and raises uncomfortable philosophical questions about why beings with superpowers and human intelligence are battling for our amusement. Others have tackled those challenges admirably and I love their comics for them, but for me, I'm going with a more animalistic approach. The pidgey goes "Kurukkoo!" and not "Hello!"

Glad to see you again too! Sorry for kinda vanishing, I fell out of the habit of using irc for a long while there.
And I'm glad you like it! Pacing in comics is weird and I don't know exactly how to wield it yet.

yeah I don't really use the CAP channel anymore myself.
I've decided for 2016 I'm gonna maintain connections with people instead of letting them fall by the wayside. If you don't mind, is there anywhere else you use that we could communicate through?

Yeah I'd love to keep in touch! I'm going to try being more active here on deviantart, and for other places of communication... I'll send you the info in a note.
