Ancient Egyptians weren't black; Nubians (Black Egyptians) were but they were much later. A. Egyptians were Semitics, if you need a modern reference Israelis and Iranians are all that remain. Absolutely beautiful art work though history picking aside. ^_^

Ancient Egyptians were always black until the invaders from the Middle East came and mixed with them, kemet means black land

Mama Egypt doesn't appear black here; she looks Egyptian/North African. They weren't white, ya know. And dark skin isn't the only thing that qualifies as being black, it's the physical appearence, as in nose and hair types. And here, Mama Egypt has straight hair, dark skin and a narrow nose, like the Egyptians.
And this picture really is beautiful!

I used to enjoy the more tomboyish Greek goddesses of Athene of wisdom and war... and Artemis the huntress and of the moon (after replacing Selene)... And I enjoy the myth in Ancient Egypt where Sekhmet the lioness goddess of WAR had to be quenched but her wrath was getting a bit out of control. So she became the Cow goddess of LOVE, Hathor...
lolz one time my know-it-all uncle got into an argument with me about papyrus. "What is it?" he asked, thinking he'd tell me something I didn't already know. I replied with "It's essentially ancient egyptian paper made of weaved and pounded reeds that are dried for the scribes to use." He had the gall to sit there and argue whether papyrus was a 'reed' or if it was a plant that made fruit. So we looked it up in the dictionary. It said i was right. We checked on Wikipedia...it said I was right. WE LOOKED IN THE BIBLE,and it said I was right. He came up with the excuse that the dictionary was outdated, wikipedia was misinformed and didn't have credible sources, and that the bible was translated wrong. I rolled my eyes and told him that I was less than half his age, and I could guarantee I knew leagues more about the Ancient World than he...he looked at me, and tried to get me to look stupid.
"Ok then miss smarty-pants...if you know so much about Ancient Egypt, then who was the first pharaoh?"
But he didn't expect me to answer.
"Well, that depends whether you count mythology in that, because Re was supposed to be the first pharaoh, continuing with Osiris, Horus...etc...but if you mean historically logged, King Menes was the first pharaoh of all of Egypt. He united Upper and Lower Egypt in approximately 3100 B.C."
he just sputtered like a fish before he shut up. lolz POWER TO THE NERDS!!!

Pharaoh Snefru was interesting. His wives were performing for him, and one of them dropped her hairclip into the water (they were on a boat) and she shrugged and refused to go on. The pharaoh then had to call the court magician to find it. Rumor has it that the magician folded one half of the lake upon the other, and found the hairclip.
