This would be one of the saddest things in avatar history if made into an episode but still very nice work

As sad as that may be... Aang needs his rest. Plus he's never really "gone" for good

I actually believe that when Aang died the ceremony may have been solemn but not sad. I mean he was a loved and respected man. And a cheerful guy. I'm pretty sure his ceremony had more genuine smile than any other.

Yeah actually that wouldn't be too hard to imagine. And I'm guessing unless he died in some terrible accident people probably even saw it coming. Tenzin's narration during the Korra pilot about Aang's passing did make me a little sad though.

This makes me seriously want Mike and Bryan to consider doing an episode showing us Aang's final days, and by extension Sokka and Toph. It can't be another case of "where's Zuko's mother?", where this time the question is "how did Aang, Sokka, and Toph die?" We can't simply not know. Sure, Aang's days spent in the iceberg caught up to him, but we just need to see. I need to.

Maybe it's just because I'm still hurting from the departure of two lovely companions from a very brilliant show, but I feel that to us fans, we deserve to give Aang a proper farewell.

Considering how well they pulled off Appa's Lost Days, I'd imagine if there would be such an episode, it would be a total heartwrencher. I'm not sure I can handle that. ;_; Well no, not really, but it would be one of those episodes that'll be difficult to rewatch.

do we know that toph died? i don't remember that in LOK. plus, she was the youngest of them all, and katara and zuko are still alive. perhaps toph is, too, but maybe she's retired LOL

LightOfTheStray In reply to mugglebornprincess [2012-10-01 17:26:08 +0000 UTC]

A founder of an establishment usually doesn't get a statue in their honour unless they passed away. Knowing Toph, do you think she would let something like old age stop her from kicking Amon and his Equalists' asses? Especially after what he did to Lin? The Welcome to Republic City game on nick.com never specified her age when you examine her statue, unlike Zuko, who is mentioned as alive as well as listing his current age.

Of course, when Katara said "my brother and many of my friends are gone", Mike and Bryan could be trolling us into thinking that Toph is a part of that "many of my friends" part.

Then again, whenever Toph is referred to in present day, she's mentioned in past-tense (at least from what I can remember).

if you're interested, I believe that the three part graphic novel "the promise" goes over the location of zuko's mother, I've only read the first two so far though.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LightOfTheStray In reply to AmandaCarbine [2012-10-01 17:27:57 +0000 UTC]

I'm actually waiting for the third. There's a sequel to it called "The Search" where Zuko does get to look for her.

When I referred to the question "where is Zuko's mother?" I meant to refer to it from the time when we didn't get an answer. And we most definitely didn't get an answer from the show. I mean, I wouldn't mind if Mike and Bryan decided to do the story in a graphic novel, but it would be nice to explore in the show.

Why would you do that?! You can't have Katara cry as an elderly woman! It just isn't right. ;_; Plus I would picture them celebrating Aang on his birthday or something. Not mourn him. ( I love how you're listening to Pan's Labyrinth music. That movie is so beautiful. *_*

Although you really should watch the movie. It's a little dark, but the imagery and storytelling (not to mention the music) was quite stellar.
